I woke up one morning to find a cold sore on my lower lip, and this morning my boyfriend has what appears to be a sore or canker sore under his tongue. After I told him that the cold sore is contagious we have been trying very hard to not close, and believe me it's VERY hard. Anyways, can this be related in any way or does my bf have a canker sore? He may also be getting sick. And I also wanted to know if the canker sores are contagious, because I read that they are and read that they're not.

although the cold sore is a cluster, what my bf has is what appears to be a white sore under the tongue. And we have not been close since I've had mine.

The cold sore is from the herpes virus so it can be shared. The canker sore can be the result of several things, a small cut to the mouth, eating too many acidic foods or from a virus. If you have multiple sores in the mouth or throat this is a good sign it is a virus. If is sore is viral then that can be transmitted.

It seems VERY likely that you have a common type of herpes. Cold sores, sometimes called fever blisters, are clusters of small blisters on the lip and outer edge of the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red and inflamed. The blisters can break open, weep a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. Complete healing may take 7 to 10 days.

Check out the attached page for more detailed information. Good luck! :)

I got diagnosed with herpes virus (type 2) about 3 years ago, whilst I was still in college and had a foolish one-night stand. I realize lots of girls say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date men again. After all, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/07eWY everything improved.

Not only was I able to eliminate all remnants of the herpes simplex virus from my system in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This method gave me back the opportunity to be happy and experience real love again. Now I hope that I can help others by sharing this story.

If you are a carrier of herpes (which most people are) it takes very little to cause one to break out. A Lysine supplement (it is an amino acid, so it is very normal and non invasive) is very helpful in assisting the body to keep herpes under control. (for some reason I have a sneaking suspicion that that is not what you have.) Canker sores are contagious, but once you are infected, you are infected, and once you are a carrier, you are always infected.

You have a cold sore; he has a canker sore. Different things. More than likely, if you kiss on the lips (only) he will not get your cold sore. Most people already have the virus in their body.

Don't kiss his genital area. You could spread herpes I to that area.

Go to a dermatologist. If it's a herpes virus you can get a prescription like Acyclovir. You could also try Lysine, which you can buy in the vitamin section of your local pharmacy. I don't think chancre (sp) sores are contagious. If it is herpes....be very careful of your genital area!

You both should go to the doctor to check it out, not only is it a sign of herpes, but it can be a sign of another STD, better to be safe then sorry.

You both have oral herpes in sum. Don't kiss, get some medicine for it. Being sick lowers the immune system and therefore makes it harder for either of you to fight off the virus causing the breakout.
