It's noticeable within my family that the members with sweet tooths are the more aggressive ones. Daughter becomes much sweeter in nature when she diets and lays off refined foods containing sugar. Then I came across some research on jail inmates who were given a sugar free diet and became less angry and violent.
So try knocking out sugar for a while and see if it makes any difference!
Also short temper can be a sign of high blood pressure so that's worth checking too.

I used to suffer from quite a short temper, wouldn't take much to get me all enraged up.

I learnt to just let things pass - most things aren't worth getting worked up about. I used to throw things, kick things and so forth, until the day when, in a fit of anger after dropping an exhaust pipe on my head, I kicked out all the lights in my car - only to regret in seconds later, as I had to drive through the night to Scotland - with a busted foot!

I also got myself a big punch bag, which is hanging up in my garage, which gets the bad news these days - not only is it very therapeutic, it's surprisingly hard work as well! 20 mins on a punch bag, and you've forgotten what had pi$$ed you off, or are too knackered to do anything about it!!

Anytime you feel yourself getting overwhelmed with anger, try to seperate yourself from everyone and everything.

Different things work for different people. A good, healthy approach might be exercising. it always helped me to get on my cycling bike and "ride" it out for an hour or two.

You can also try writing/ranting, either on the computer or in a journal in a serene environment (for instance, a park or backyard, with silence). ...just be careful about saving it!! I wouldn't!! lol

You could try talking to a therapist about it, though that might not be helpful if you're often angry and can't seem to shake it, since you'll have to wait it out in between sessions.

Another way it to pick up a hobby - whether it be painting, sewing, web design/graphic arts, or building models...whatever interests you.

Some people find it helpful to read - try to always have a book with you, and you can read and relax for awhile when you're angered.

For me, physical activity was the most helpful. Try getting a punching bag, or obtaining a fast paced work out video, like the 7/8 min. tae bo ones - they'll get your heart pumping even faster than when you were furious!! Goodluck!

Always count from 1 to 10 before you say something. Then think before you reply or talk.

1) Identify the triggers
2) avoid them if possible
3) if not possible ask yourself why they act as a trigger
4) go to assertiveness classes - they will help you deal with situations without exploding
