NOTHING is SAFE if you really think about it.... I mean you can die or get hurt driving in your car on your way to the tattoo appt.
But for YEARS and YEARS people have been getting tattoos. and more and more of them. It is "safe" as you use common sense and research where and what your doing.
Make sure you go to a reputable tattoo shop, (not just any mom & pop shop) You can if you wanted to get a copy of the complaints, to see if they have any filed against them for whatever reason (being an unclean shop, tattoing minors,etc)\
When your getting tattooed or about too, watch and make sure the tattooer uses gloves, cleans and santizes his/her station, covers everything, and most important, make sure they unpackage every needle, and tubes. its usually all indivdually wrapped.
When you acutally get the tatoo make sure you leave wrapped for a few hours, and when you unbandage it, your going to want to wash it with a mild anti-bacterial soap(dial) use your finger tips to rub soap around, and rinse off with warm water, and pat dry do that a couple times a day to keep it clean.
Dont use any ointments for the first 24-48 hours, let the tattoo dry out and do its thing
get AQUAPHOR ointment (can be found in the lotion aisle at any drug store) and use a small amount enough to have a thin layer over the tattoo. use this until the tattoo is no longer scabbed.
When your tattoo is pretty much healed up you can start to use a NON-FRAGRANCE,NON ALCOHOL Lotion (Cruel,Lubriderm, etc)
This is the best advice i can give you to have a safe, and good experience with getting a tatoo

Yes, tattooing can be very safe as long as you do your research on each place you are considering! Always make sure that everything they use is either disposable or autoclavable. Needles used should always be placed in a bio hazard container to never be used again, not even on you! Too many things can occur with used needles even if its the original one you were tattoo'd with. Anytime you get a tattoo, you need to make sure that the shop does the "single use" method, which is when they dispose of everything after they finish your tattoo. The only thing most artists will not dispose of is the tube that the needle goes into for the tattoo. The tube is cleaned then sterilized in the autoclave to kill all germs and bacteria. I would recommend actually going into the shops and making sure you feel comfortable with the staff there and the environment as well. Cleanlyness is next to godlyness! Just becareful and make sure to always ask any questions you have! Dont be afraid to ask! You might just regret it if you dont ask them! Good luck!

Yes they are safe. The risks that are associated with tattoos are generally rare when you go to a reputable and clean tattoo artist and take care of your body. Usually the horror stories come from shops with shady practices. Just be sure to check out the shop and its practices before you decide to have them work on you.
If tattoos were TRULY harmful to everyone, I'm pretty sure that less people would have them or that they would be illegal in more places.

As long as the tattooist is clean, and professional tattoos are very safe. If they weren't there wouldn't be so many people that have them.
Hope this helps and good luck!

"Safe ?
Yes tatoos are safe..
Do they lend to or improve a girls femininity ?
Nope..
"Tramp Stamps" detract from a womans feminine image..
They reduce intrest from educated males with class..."
Are you 70 or something? It does not mean you are undeucated.
Think about how long they have been around, and how over time their meanings have changed. Tribes, sailors, come on. Get real.
Tramp stramp?
And to answer your question, if it is done in a cleansly matter, it is fine.. im still alive

as long as you go to an experienced tattoo artist and a reputable shop, then you will be fine. also you'll need to follow all of the artists instructions so you will keep your tattoo from becoming infected. wash it often with antibacterial soap and keep fragrance free lotion on it. good luck!!

yes they are. Do your homework though regarding procedures that should be followed in a tattoo shop...ie...new needles every time, autoclaved equipment...etc. Make sure you go toa reputable place...
