You may have to put that timeline together yourself; wikipedia should prove helpful.

This Iraq war has lasted half as long, practically, as the Vietnam war. U.S. involvement in the Vietnam conflict ran over ten years (1963-73), while this Iraq conflict starts its fifth year this March.
