I disagree with the biblical statement that when you are dead you not only can't feel revenge, memory, reward etc... but, for some reason you can feel vanity and drink whine? For what purpose? Vanity is a living human quality so is drinking. Without life they have no value. Especially without memory to care for the taste. Or your actual brain and nervous system to receive the knowledge.
perhaps the context is out of place and I'm misinterpreting that portion but even so.
Even so you are given a new body supposedly you, wouldn't be you. What makes you is the matter of your body and the consciousness developed based on your environment which is purposeless outside of your environment and even more so without life.
Of course I am trying to make sense out of a bunch of metaphors.
Without death there is no life.

I think a lot of my family may already be dead before me so I will say happy. Knowing that there is an afterlife would make me happy for those left behind.

if you were dead you would not be able to wake up!not untill the judgement anyhow
J
Jb.14:12 so man lies down and does not rise; till the heavens are no more, men will not awake or be roused from their sleep. )
(Dn.12:2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. )

Happy. Not worried about my family, cuz God and the other Christians would take care of them and plus I will see them again when they come to heaven.

Wouldn't you be happy that it turned out that death really wasn't oblivion?
But I do think about whether (if there is life after death) I'll be separated from my loved ones by abysses of space and time. That *would* be sad.

I don't suppose that their is anything that would pain me once I get to heaven. I think that the joy will be unspeakable in finally getting to see Him as He now sees me. But to tell you the truth, I have noticed that in the bible whenever someone saw Him [in heaven] they fell down as if dead....I don't suppose that i will be any different. When men see God as He is, they loath themselves, it is unavoidable. But I also believe he will make it possible for me to be in His presence.
