My boyfriend is going to be at a college 4-5 hours away from me and we both agreed we are going to stay together but we also talked and he said that we are only going to see each other on his breaks or if i drive and see him. So obviously we wont see each other very much at all. Does anyone have any advice for me? Other than phone email and IM'ing. Which we plan to do all. Thanks everybody!!

I've seen this work in many situations, so if you two both make hardcore efforts, you'll be great.

THe thing that sucks is the distance. Hopefully your guy will make the efforts to drive down to see you on weekends/breaks. If he doesn't, that's kind of a red flag he's not wanting to make as much effort.

And of course, you can drive up there as well, but just make sure it's both of you two making efforts, not just one.

I've had long distance relationships that worked out fine. We would make plans on certain weekends when we'd see each other, then we would both have plenty of time to take off work, planning etc etc...

As for phone/IMing, luckily my recent guy was really great at calling all the time. If I even thought about calling, I didn't have to, because it was most likely he was already calling me!

Good luck!

I think you''ll probably break up, sorry. Long distance relationships seldom last when the people involved are so young, and starting their adult life. It seems a bit unfair to expect a young man to go off to college, see his girlfriend for only a handful of days a year, and remain faithful. Let's face it: he'll be in contact with hundreds of new women, experiencing freedom from home for probably the first time in his life, and will want to enjoy life, rather than sitting on his computer typing out reassuring love letters to a person he hasn't seen in months,
I know you'll hate my answer, but that's the reality.
