Most of the embryos used are "extra" embryos from in vitro fertilization clinics. Usually when a couple has in vitro fertilization done, more embryos are made than are ever implanted. The extra embryos are frozen and stored.

Eventually, if they're not used for something (either eventually implanted or used for stem cell production) they'll probably just be destroyed and thrown away.

where do you think they come from? they come from aborted fetuses, were we to find another source for stem cells, there would be less need for abortions
