An elevated number of white blood cells is called leukocytosis. This can result from bacterial infections, inflammation, leukemia, trauma, or stress.

A decreased WBC count is called leukopenia. It can result from many different situations, such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or diseases of the immune system.

A WBC is done as part of a CBC test (complete blood count) and the phlebotemist or doctor should be able to interpret it for her and explain anything that appears abnormal.

Are you just fishing for something or what?

If your sister has had a white blood cell count, and there's something wrong, the doctor would have told her. No need to ask us on Yahoo, ask her doctor.

white blood count should be on average between 450 and 1000. if it is high, she likely has an infection of some sort. just knowing white count and nothing else cannot give you a diagnosis.
