Hi, I am 20 years old 5'3'' and i weigh about 140 pounds. I recently started running 6 days a week about 3 or 4 miles. This sounds like a lot but im not seeing many results (although I am never satisfied, even tho I weighed about 160 a year ago)

Anyways... I have been doing this about a month, how long will it take me to get down to about 120?

This is what I usually Eat:

Breakfast- Scrambled eggs (no butter), with veggies and a little cheese. Or some whole grain wheat cereal

Lunch- Some fruit, fat free cottage cheese, or cereal

Supper- Probably Cereal haha, I eat a lot of cereal because I can't cook and I don't like a lot of things. Plus i live on my own and am very cheap!

What could I do to lose weight faster? What are some healthy things I can eat, and How long do you think it will take for me to weigh 120 ( I gain weight very easily, but think its way hard for me to lose it) Im also naturally pretty muscular. Please help. Thanks!!! :D

Don't target losing more than about 2 lbs per week. If you try to lose faster, your body will go into "starvation mode" and get very stingy about burning calories while at the same time very efficient about storing any calories that you do provide. And it will make you feel awful.

The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.

Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.

Be patient. You shouldn't concentrate on the weight, but start measuring inches. As you know, muscle weighs more than fat, so be careful how much you lose. If you switched to cereal in the morning to eggs, fruit and a little cheese at night, you would burn off more of the sugars from the cereal. That might help. If you are eating a high calorie cereal, you should switch to a lower calorie one. Good luck. Remember, if you do not consume enough calories, your bodies metabilism will slow down and it will take longer so continue to eat - just make good choices. You seem to be missing a little protein. Try adding some tofu or chicken breast at lunch.

I like you am petite and very overweight. I need to lose 75#. I gained 20 over the holidays and 50 when my doc put me on this stupid medication causing serious weight gain and they know it. Two months 50# that was over two years ago. Here's what I just started the Body for Life program. I suggest you go out and get the book it's wonderful. You will really like it and it explains the dynamics of losing weight. For starters you are doing way to much aerobics and need to add weight lifing 3 x week, running or walking 3-4 x week only 20 minutes yes 20 minutes. You really will love it. Check out his web site they show a lot of before and afters www.bodyforlife.com good luck

I highly recommend increasing your water consumption. I noticed you didnt say whether you drink much if any. Sounds like your on the right track. You dont want to lose to fast it will make your body bottom out. A lot of times you lose quick and then your body platows. Basically it says hey somethings new and will take a few extra days before you start to lose again. Keep up the healthy excercise. Even after you reach your target weight. As far as eating I highly recommend the food pyamid and eat in small portions. Good luck

Improtant- muscle weighs more than fat
Try to forget about your weight and concentrate instead on your appearance
Most sources say 6 weeks to results that you can see
Try oat based cerals
Lots of water
try salads with red wine vinegar (no oil, it's not bad and very good for you ) head lettuce is a negative calorie food ( it takes more calories to digest then you take in from the lettuce
Read any/all food labels, many foods contain hidden sugar
Exercise before bed. you will raise you metabolism throughout the night. Burn off a few extra calories while you sleep.

Sounds like you are doing ok, but you may not be eating enough to sustain your activity, thus no weight loss. If you try for 1-2 pounds per week (which is the healthy way) and continue your exercise after you reach your goal, it could take 2-3 months.

If you want, visit my website - www.pointnutrition.com - I can do phone consultations if you like. Just click on "make and appointment" or email me for further info. and I can help you get on the right track and balance calories and exercise for the best results.

It sounds like you are eating healthy, and actually I would say that you are probably not eating enough, especially protein and vegetables. Have you ever considered a supplement? I've heard that Hoodia is a natural supplement that you can buy--it's a cactus made in Africa and it has been determined to be safe as far as I know. Not sure if it works, but here's a link for more information: http://hoodia.divinfo.com

Cereal for dinner is bad. No wonder you aren't seeing results. You are storing all those carbohydrates.

You CAN cook. Don't be lazy. You need protein, vegetables and a little cabs--not too much--at every meal.
