the size dosnt really matter what you need to worry about is how often the door is going to open or windows as the heat will build up within the room a hallogen heater is best

You need to calculate the cubic footage of the space, which means you need to know the height of the room as well. You need to know what material the walls are made from, whether they are exterior walls or not, and it there are any windows in the room. Take this info to a professional and they will tell you what you need....

Never done this earlier.
Still we have a try.
step1..get total vol of air
and its mass at a a given temp.
step2..get specific heat
step3..calculate otal heat to raise temp.
to a given value
step 4...allow for radiaton and other losses
Assume height of workshop [not given] to 20ft
Volume=23*25*20 ft^3
=23*25*20*[.3048]^3m^3
=325.64m^3
mass of air [20deg]=325.64*1.205 kg
=392.4 kg
specificheat of air=1.01kj/[kg*K]
let us asume that we need to
maintain a temp of 27 deg C
=27+273 deg K
=300 deg K
total heat required
=m*s*T
=392.4kg*1.01kj/[kg*K]*300
=118,897.2 kj
=118,897.2*1.5[add 50% to account for losses]
=178,345.6 kj
Suppose we need to get this quantity of heat in 1 hrs
power required
=178345.6/3600 Kw
=49.54 kw
[1BTU/hour=.2931 kw]
=169 btu/hr

Usually the box that it comes in tells you the square foot that it covers.
If not usually it has an 800 number on the box that you can call for info

try going to home depot, they should be able to help and it won't cost you anything. If you call someone they will come and check it out and then it'll cost you.
