Ok, I am going to joing the national guard and go to basic training this summer. I am not in shape at all. What do I need to know how to do. My friend said that he had to do a certain amount of push ups and sit up to pass in the end and had to run 2 miles in 16 minutes. He dosen't know what the girls have to do though. In the end of basic training, how many sit ups and push ups will I have to do in those two minutes and how long do I have to run those two miles. What will I have to do.

To get into Basic, you will need to complete a 1 mile run in less then 10 minutes, 3 pushup and 16 sit ups in 1 minute. By the time you complete Basic Training, you will need to complete the 2 mile run in less then 19:20, 52 sit ups and 19 push ups in 2 minutes. As long as you can do the entrance requirements before you go, don't worry about the end point. Your Drill Dergeant will get you there no problem.

Sweetie, start getting in a gym and do exercises. It would have been much simpler in the Navy Reserve, where the PT (Physical Training) requirements are very low compared to the Army.

However, if you start to workout now, I mean serious workout, you should have no problems to be ready for the 10 weeks that you will be in training.

By the way, 10 weeks will seem to you a very long time once you start basic, but that's part of the psychological effects of it. That's why a lot of people quit, because they think that it is a long time, when it isn't.

Good luck. I wish you the best.

first get use to waking up early, depending on if its in the same time zone or not, but get use to that first. Then realize breakfast isn't probally going to be served until 9 which means 3-4 hours of exersise before meal time.

I suggest also realizing your going to loose a lot of weight as well.

Start jogging slowly start with half a mile then add in 25 push ups and pull UPS. then go up to 3/4 of a mile then to a mile slowly work your way up in 1/4 of a mile, but start around 1/2 to begin with.

Now you want to get up to past 2 miles a day, i suggest getting up to 3-4 miles by the time your in camp it will be a breeze! Also push up the push up and pull ups up as well by adding 10-15 more. add in some hand weights too will help those go faster!

I suggest working every day, you will be sore but by the time you go to camp you'll be better then more then half and will make you look good, just don't smart off about it after you get good!

Good luck and remember you can do it!

You should train like you will d everything a man will. That way you will nbe ready. The basic training is not as ridget as it was due to so many people in their 40s (both men and women many retired) enlisted to serve thisr country.
YOU should not have any trouble running 2 miles in 16 minutes.or doing sit ups.
About the only thing you'll find harder is weights, pull ups, and gopng over the top ropes,
Before you go in exercise and run ever day, eat right and get plenty of sleep, especialy the first week before entering basic

Good luck:):) thanks for enlisting to serve your country.

All Right,, as some one that used to work in a reception station. That is where you will go first to get your records made and uniforms assigned. They will conduct a fitness test and see if you can maintain the standards. If you cannot, they will send u to a special company to bring you up to standards. Now, dont quote me on this one as every base is different. But here is the standards for where I was.

Pushups===5 for females
Situps----17

1 mile run=-=under 10 minutes

have someone work on you to do correct reps and work on them and u will be fine,, dont worry about it and GOOD LUCK

One mistake taht I saw when I was in the Marines is new boots would buy new running shoes when they went in for boot camp. WRONG!!! have some nice broken in shoes. To get you ready, start eating right. Start getting up early and run or walk. If you are out of shape start walking allot and work forward till you are running. Run or walk with small weights at hand. Breathe through your nose and not your mouth. Start lifting small weights and work your way up. Good luck and THANK YOU.

I wouldn't worry so much, my best friend and neighbor just came back from basic for the Nat.Guard 2 months ago and she has NEVER been in shape and still doesn't look like she is. But if she can do it... I'm pretty sure my mom could do it.

Why the military? you may connect the Air nationwide seem after (Air rigidity). the necessary preparation is 6 weeks lengthy and it truly is hassle-free. Plus they don't deliver you instantly to warfare once your carried out consisting of your technical preparation college and also you may be surrounded by way of sensible human beings. you in consumer-friendly words favor to bypass the ASVAB it really is somewhat puzzling than the military and Marines.
