I am a praticing buddhist, mainly thervadian Buddhism, I have "been" a Buddhist for about 7 years now. My question is basically, what is the significance of being reborn on your birthday. Ex I was born on Jan 28 1985. I have never found any info in any of the cannons about this. And I'm too scared to ask the local monk about this. But I was just wondering what do you guy's think? And More to the point it doesn't have to be strictly about a Buddhist answer but it would be great, I'm open to anything.

The Buddha said that the chances of being born a human is very rare. Therefore, you and I and the rest of the people in this world must have done wholesome deeds to be reborn as a human being.Having given this golden opportunity,we must make an effort to overcome ignorance to arrive at realisation and Enlightenment. All great people are/were born as a human beings and they work their way up to greatness.Even the Buddha had to cultivate his mind to realise the real nature of human life.
Sadhu and metta to you.

Why be afraid to ask the monk? Ask a kind one you know is patient for sure and ask away. It's a darn good question friend. I don't think there's any significance from a Buddhist perspective, but I've been busy focusing on psychology and medicine a LOT lately with my mind training (Tibetan Buddhist here) so I couldn't tellya. Hope you find a satisfactory answer! Heck maybe you could even ask a Tibetan monk.

I'm not very knowledgeable about this, I only know about the day in which people are born, not the dates. In Thai tradition, there are Buddha statues in 7 different postures for the people to pay homage as. So people born on Monday pay homage to the Buddha statue representing Monday(I don't remember which posture) and give donation to the donation box for that statue.

In Burma, the day people were born are believed to affect the personality of the people, and they also believe that there are different occasions happened on each day of the week, eg. on Friday achieved parinibbana(I'm not really sure which day it is).

There are also different chanting in Pāli for blessings for people born on different days. This is practiced by Thai Buddhists, and if I remember correctly the Burmese also do this.

In Chinese tradition(I don't think it's related to Buddhism), there are people who can 'count' using your birthday to predict your future. Also, in Indonesia, many people believe that there are people who practice black magic and can use the birthday of a person to cast a curse on them so the superstitious people in Indonesia is very careful not to mention their birthdays in conversations.

in buddhist terms it only means that's the day you came out from bardo state. no specific meaning as far as i know.

now if you believe in horoscopes, star alignment and alll that, it would influence in your personality and character.

in kabbalah terms, by adding up the numbers of your birth date you get the year in which your most transcendent karmatic event will take place, among other stuff
