Good grief yes. What popped into my head is that thing most everyone's parents have used on their children at one time or another: "Well, if so and so jumped off a cliff, would you blindly follow them?"

oh yeah!
and it doesnt necessarily connect with the religious only...
it applies to the military, and governments and wickedness as well as criminals too.
When a son takes part in a criminal activity, and believes it is just a night time operation, he will still be effectively locked up in prison and arrested.
when an army followed hitler, it didnt make what they did righteous or a war of holiness it just mean a lot of people died and many people war crime criminals.
When the president of the United States attends a Bohemian Grove ritual, is he a christian following the messiah or is he a man that has joined the One world Order like his father before him? Those he follows and is bought and paid for, does he do it blindly or is he guilty of the concequences if the One world governement is actually the servants of Satan or Lucifer, than all the soldiers that go off to war blindly, and die, are they the servants of freedom and the constitution or do they serve the same antichrist and false prophets of the Armegeddon scenario?
When christians world wide Joine the church of satan, the (bride of satan) do they believe blindly they follow the God of creation or the false god of satanism and lucifer? see Rev 18:4

Sure it can. There is a family in Santa Cruz, CA that is all facing liver transplants after one family member went and picked wild mushrooms called Deathcaps, and fed them to his family, "blindly obeying" his book on mushrooms without understanding what he was doing...

The Buddha has always told people never to take HIS word on anything but do analytical thinking and meditation on it yourself. He eschews the whole idea of taking something on "blind faith". So it can be dangerous to do so... I never do. Not even in tantric practice will I ever do anything "blindly"... I research teachers and watch them carefully.

it is blindness because you are following it without knowing the truth you could be committing a sin unknowingly.
it can be dangerous because your not following it for the purpose it has been designed you are following it for the sake of it.
for e.g you are revising for science for an exam but you do not do science so how will that revision of science come in use because it has nothing to do with it.to follow something you must have faith.

"Here, I've strapped some feathers to your arms. Now go jump off that building. Don't worry, you'll fly."
Would you believe that? That's blind faith. When someone tells you something and you have absolutely no desire to check on it, question it, try to understand the inner workings and motivations, that's when it get dangerous.

It is very risky to accept blindly.
The Bible continuously exhorts to take in knowledge ....in other words, know what you are believing, and doing.
