Noah's Flood was happened everywhere on the earth with climate changes and some civilizations were disappeared. Not only Noah's ark but many arks could be on the water to save humans.
According to some theory, Uighur Civilization in Central Asia which was established 35000 years ago were the first known civilization on the world which lasted until 15000 years ago and disappeared because of some catastrophy or climate change happened on earth which seems to be a reason of starting the migration of most people from that region. The myth about earlier civilizations like Atlantis and MU has not been proven yet and they are believed to be down under the two big oceans. Ancient Uighur Civilization at Central Asia was believed to be the continuity of two mythical civilization on earth.

Since, as you say, the Flood story is recorded all over the world, it happened. Each story has an ark, a savior, and the survival of animals. Taking a guess, but if they all agree, world wide, wouldn't that mean that something happened. Why not the Noah's ark?

Because God could not completely end sin as long as descendants of Noah existed. God already made the world in 6 days; He wouldn't need to do it again. Noah and his family were the only righteous people on Earth; everyone else was evil. God had a right to judge His Creation by wiping out all evil. Although Noah was righteous, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were not, so sin once again reared its ugly head.
What is so hard to believe about a worldwide Flood? There is geological evidence for it all over the place. Almost all fossils are found in sedimentary rock, which is formed from SEDIMENT - FLOOD sediment. The Grand Canyon and the Great Salt Lake are excellent evidences for a worldwide Flood. The era during which the dinosaurs lived was the pre-flood era, which was from 4000 B.C. to about 2400 B.C.

We really don't know, can only guess. The bible probably shouldn't be taken literally regarding the six days. Six days to god may be a little different for he is the alpha and the omega. If the flood did occur than possible that can account for the "ice age" and why the continents shifted. Who really knows if the aging process for artifacts is truly accurate. I heard it is not. Maybe the flood did happen. That's a whole lot of animals to put on an ark. Maybe that's why we don't have mastadons anymore for they froze up when the flood waters got cold. They probably couldn't fit on the ark. That's why we have smaller land animals and bigger water mammals for they didn't have to fit on the ark. They just swam.

Hello =)
Well...It was a lot less work for Him to have Noah do it all....
After all, When he did it all in 6 days, he got so tired, he slept for a whole day....
This way, Noah had to do all the work, and God could just spend the time ranting and raving about how evil everyone was.....
Ancient India also recorded an ancient flood. Their creator-God, Lord Brahma just watched, confused (I don't think he was terribly clever) as the earth sank into the ocean. Ultimately a Giant Boar, named Sveta came out of Brahma's nostril, fully formed, and lifted the earth out of the deluge with his giant tusks.
A little sillier than the Noah story, but perhaps no less believable.
Namaste,
--Tom

Well weather you believe if the story is authentic or not. The way the story is told and the theology behind the story does not allow your proposal, that God could kill them all and recreate.
Consider the story. God was going to punish the world. He was going to KILL everyone, and did not want to have mankind on earth. The story says that he was grieved that he had made mankind. Yet Noah found favor in his eyes.
Therefore, if he did decide to kill everyone off, he never would have recreated. Therefore, a family that was setaside was neccesary.

I do believe a flood happened because so many mythologies and ancient civilizations recorded it, but I doubt that the myth is an accurate depiction

There is no uniform covering of sediment in the geology that would be a result of a world wide flood. That is proof that there wasn't one.
If there was one, you would have to assume that god then proceeded to "cover his tracks" by removing this layer around the entire world. I guess this is possible, but it doesn't match the story.

I believe the flood was regional, at a time when humans still lived in one place, the Middle East.
