Ten percent of male sheep (rams) are apparently gay, & scientists are trying to maket them straight. (Link below)

FINDINGS: The hypothalmus in the brain is smaller in gay rams. By giving baby rams hormones, they have some success in making them straight.

While the "treatment" often works, it doesn't always.

CHRISTIAN DILEMMAS:

1. Gay men also have smaller hypothalmuses, indicating a biological basis for mammalian homosexuality.

2. Human prenatal test will be developed to show if baby boys might be gay. Parents who don't want to raise gay children may abort their fetuses.

3. Ram treatment sometimes fails; the goal is only to produce more sheep. If given to humans, the hormones must be given to children. There may be physical or behavioral side effects, & many will still grow up gay.

?s:
Do Christians support such research?

Does biology contribute to gayness?

Are gay people part of God's plan?

Are such abortions justified?

Should experiments on at-risk children take place?

Sorry this is so long. Here's the link for the story

It's also on Google news under "gay rams" with other stories.

People should be accepted for who they are and how they are. Changing them to fit your perfect mold is wrong. As parents it is your job to love your baby and it doesn't matter if they are blue or purple or yellow or gay or bi or straight. You, as a parent, should accept your child no matter what. Rams being gay? Born that way. There are other Rams out there to make more little sheep babies. We should leave things alone - the way nature intended them to be.

The problem with the hypothalmus studies in gay men is that it does not indicate how or why it is smaller than that of heterosexuals. It is possible that homosexuality causes the hypothalmus changes, rather than the other way around. Studies also show that our brains can physically change over the course of time in different circumstances. In deep depression, the actual size of the brain decreases, for example.

Even if biology is able to assign biological factors to homosexuality, it should not substantially change Christian belief or doctrines. No orthodox Christian believes we are born without effects (and affects) of sin and the fall. I have severe depression (Bipolar 2) which is known to be hereditary. I would not think people born in an Edenic paradise would have this problem.

It has implications for Christians because it takes the morality out of homosexuality and puts it into a biological perspective, where it belongs.

IF homosexuality turns out to be genetic (and we are a long way from establishing that), then I would support the abortion of "gay fetuses". Although natural selection is already dealing with it (gay people are unlikely to reproduce. It is possible, but it does not happen as often as heterosexual reproduction), parents often abort offspring when test results indicate that a genetic abnormality exists, and there is no point in forcing a woman to have a baby for whom she will have no respect.

Is gayness the result of a small hypothalmus, or is a small hypothalmus the result of gay activity? Romans 1:27 "... men with men committing that which is unseemly and receiving IN THEMSELVES the results of their error..." Maybe when one begins giving in to the temptation to perform gay acts, it causes a reaction which reduces the size of the hypothalmus which in turn increases the desire for more gay activity. Kind of a slippery slope idea. The activity fuels it's own desire for more such activity. I would say much like masterbation....easy to do; hard to quit.

LOL...

Anyways, all the anti-gay stuff the so-called Christians spout is their misunderstanding of the Bible and what is written in there. If they actually READ the Bible, they would find some sayings by Jesus that tells them that the ramblings about gays in the Bible are not his teachings at all and to ignore them. Rather than pushing the gays away and persecuting them, according to Jesus we should be accepting them and loving them with our whole hearts.

If they're good stewards of the earth they shouldn't support it... it's cruelty to animals to do research on them for self-serving purposes like that. It's unChristian-like to abuse things to support an agenda.
