child support does NOT show up on a credit report, only arrears do. either he used to owe, the CS dept made an error, or he still does owe.

if he is in arrears, then yes, its true. its listed on all three major credit reporting agencies

if he does not owe arrears, he needs to call the caseworker, or the state CS department and they will tell him what is reported and why. he can then find out how to have it removed.

i believe he has to get a letter from the state CS, stating that no arrears are due, (the CS department has to check and have his name removed from all three) and he has to send this letter, along with a letter of his own (notorized) to each agency certified, RRR via the postal service.

they will tell him how to straiten it out.

Yes it is true that child support shows up on your credit report. And it can have a very negative effect if it's behind or sent to collections.

Most banks will not loan money to someone who has back child support. Simply because if someone will not pay for their own child? What would make the bank think that they would pay them back?

Yes its true and he should go to the source to prove them wrong. If he claims that he paid in cash, he does not have a case.

My son-in-law got this license pulled because of back child support from his ex-girlfriend. It showed up also on his credit report when he went to buy a house with his current wife.

I get child support from my daughters father in Ohio and whenever he is late in paying they send him a notice saying they will put it on his credit report and revoke his drivers license if he doesn't pay $X in 30 days.

If he has payed all his support like he should be doing then it shouldn't be listed. But like someone else said... if a parent isn't paying for their own child(ren) then why would they care to pay other debt. It's a pretty good way to make someone pay!

Yes, if you owe back child support it will show on your credit report. My boyfriends credit report, shows Child Support, how much he owes, and that they garnish it. It sucks.....but thats what they do.

nicely, do not purchase a sparkling motor vehicle if you're broke and in debt. It depreciates way too a lot. purchase a good high quality USED motor vehicle for money. let the previous proprietor pay those first 2 pretty intense priced years of depreciation.
