My little shih-poo's breath smells so bad, like an accumulation of spit. I've tried everything to get rid of the foul odor, brushing her teeth, putting scope in her waterbowl, giving her spearment gum, placing listerine pocket-packs on her toung, even yelling at her. Nothing seems to be working. Whenever I give her a denta-bone, she poops smelly and green for at least 2 days. Please help this foul-mouthed little pooch. Thanks

Your dogs teeth and gums are unhealthy. See you vet for a proper cleaning and check up. If let go your dog will not only suffer from the pain ,but may quite likely lose teeth.

As a dog groomer I have had many dogs go through my shop with bad, horrible breath. The main cause has been the dogs teeth, rotting away & in pain. There has even been times that I have refused to shave a dogs face cause it causes so much pain. Their teeth were so badly coated with tarter, loose and bleeding. I have even pulled some rotton teeth that were so loose they caused problems with eating, playing, getting petted etc.
It could also be diet.
Ya, know how parsley is placed on a plate of food for us? That contains Chloraphil to take away the bad breath from the food that we just ate. Chloraphil can be picked up at your local drug store. So if it isn't the teeth and a change of diet doesn't do it. try the Chloraphil.

Hello,
You really should not give your dogs Breath Fresheners designed for people, they could cause a lot of intestinal problems. Take her to a Vet and get a check up done on her to find out what her problem IS. Something is obviously wrong for her to be having such bad breath as that.
Yelling at her? That is a bit over the wall!
Your dog probably has bad breath because of Bad teeth, or something is wrong somewhere else.
There is another possibility, also, she could also be eating Feces of other animals, this will cause a foul mouth.
Either way, take your dog to the Vets and find out.
I have found a site for you that may be helpful to you, Please read the whole first page it will explain the different conditions that could cause bad breath:

Unique breath-freshening ingredient will keep your dog's breath fresh and his teeth clean, while helping to reduce plaque & tarter and fight gun disease.

You have to visit a vet. Your dog may have problem with it's teeth that is why bad smell comes from it's mouth. Visit as soon as possible a vet because bad, rotten or destroyed generally teeth can lead to heart problems. Just check it!!!

Wow...you gave your dog gum ?!?!? Very interesting.......fact is that your dog's breath may not be smelling bad because of it's mouth at all....maybe you need to organise a better diet or chnage the food you feed it....the smell might be originating from it's stomach...from it's diet.....
Please....stop feeding the dog scope....and gum.....and those tongue thingamajigs............no wonder she craps smelly and green......change her diet, feed her on time............
Hope that helps...........

i dont think giving your dog human breath fresheners is the best idea but you should def. take him to the vet. they have little mints specially made for dogs that really work. or your dog may just have a breath problem you can do nothing about some people have the same problem. haah. but ya sorry bout your dog.
