So-called, 'day-time' hallucinations aren't all that uncommon and they don't necessarily mean you are 'crazy' or that you are facing a serious psychological issue such as schizophrenia. I too have suffered from them, although mine mostly manifested as seeing or hearing things that were not there. This phenomena is typically caused by high levels of anxiety or fear, thus the expression 'it made my skin crawl'.

Your best bet with any mental health issue is to seek out a professional. Getting help from a therapist or psychiatrist has a certain stigma about it, but you shouldn't let feelings of embarrassment hold you back from getting help. It is much the same as seeing a doctor for a physical health issue. Moreover, if you have any heroes amongst the many famous people in our world you can be fairly certain they have sought help and are probably seeing a therapist regularly. It doesn't mean you're a freak or a weirdo. In fact, it is rather common and normal.

If you can't get over the stigma or don't have the means to seek out a professional for whatever reason, there are a few 'home-remedies' you can try. First, you need to relax and let your mind unburden itself. They may seem hokey but Yoga or meditation can help tremendously with this. If nothing else they give you a chance to shut out the constant over-stimulation of the modern world and just think and breathe in silence (or to serene music as some prefer it). Also, and this too goes for every psychological problem, you should at least temporarily stop any consumption of substances that can effect the brains ability to function - this includes all non-prescribed drugs, alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine if possible (although, if you are addicted to smoking quitting will cause your anxiety to get worse before it gets better).

You're not paranoid or schizophrenic in any way. The skin has nerves, just like the rest of the body. And occasionally they will activate, making you feel like you have a bug crawling on you. Especially after having seen a bug nearby.

Same happens with tickles. To most ticklish people, ONE tickle is enough to get them going. Then the rest of the time, all you need to do is point your fingers at them in tickling gesture, and they'll giggle as if you were touching them.

Light body hair gets stuck to your skin. As it dries, the hair flips up. This causes yet another hair to break free and the sensation is that something is crawling on you. You're not crazy, and they aren't bugs.

There are all sorts of medical and psychiatric reasons for this to be happening, but it is also possible that you just need to bathe. Try buying a loofah. If this doesn't help, and it is interfering with your life, see a doctor. They can give you all sorts of expensive medications that won't do anything other than convince you that you are better and shorten your life span.

There are a number of nerve related issues that might be causing this.

And its also possible that its a mental condition.

Either way (and I'd suggest the medical is the most likely) I'd see a doctor in regards to a nerve problem.

Well those were rude answers. I come from a family with a history of mental illness. It may not have anyting to do with that. It could possible be something physical. Please go to a doctor though. There is no way of knowing until you do.
