are there any sailors that can tell me what types of duties i can expect in the intelligence field. the navy page is real vague an d my recruiter is somewhat new so he really cant help me. if some one can tell me if i need to be good at math, what my work environment might be like, how much time i should expect to spend on a ship it would be much appreciated. i am also interested in ag (aerograpghers mate) so if some on e could help me with that it would be much appreciated. i am heading down to meps soon so fast and accurate feedback would be extremly valuable!
thanks alot!!!!!!!!!!

are you talking CTx or IS? either way.. it's Secret Squirrel stuff and the answers you seek cannot be disseminated on a public website.

Minimum, you need a Top Secret Clearance. sea/shore rotation varies, but expect an average of 5 years sea duty or OCONUS duty to 3 years shore duty/CONUS duty. this is especially true with CTx.. CT ratings don't so much get sent to sea as they do to places like Japan and Hawai'i. in fact CTI is NEVER permanently assigned to sea duty, they go DIRSUP and join the ship only when the mission calls for their language skills.

The main focus of naval intelligence is foreign navies so you will be counting ships and their weapons. How often they're maintained and who and where are such maintenance is done. The other thing is monitoring weapons test. However more oft than not you will be sifting though tons of reports and coalescing them for the big wigs. So you will need good computer skills the work enviroment is good but the hard part is keeping your mouth shut even to other naval personnel. An aerographers mate is a glorified film developer who gets to look at recon photos 1st. Keep in mind that you can apply for a different job in the navy by passing the new jobs 3rd class petty officers test which I did to go from BM to GMG3.

Alot of people sign up for certain jobs and then find out after boot camp that they are not going to be doing what they thought. You will have to be on the ship alot. my bro-in-law went on 3 west pacs in 4 years that was 6 months each time . Not to mention a few weeks to a couple months missions in between.
