Soho and Tribeca! Anywhere! DaSilvano's is a great answer (below) but I have seen SO MANY celebs just walking around. Even Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope (in Brooklyn) have celebs hanging out (Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger live there, as do Jennifer Connelly). Just walk around or go to a cafe (esp. in soho and tribeca) and you are bound to see somebody.at Balthazar also. Last time I was in Tribeca I saw Mike Meyers and I have seen Sarah Jessica Parker and Rory (name?) on the subway (midtown), I have seen Susan Sarandon (streets of SoHo) with daughter, as well as Chris Noth. Lastly Keri Russell on the Upper West Side. None of these stars were together, btw.

Walking around the West Village and Soho are two good places.
I've also seen quite a few on the Upper West Side, as many celebs live on Central Park West.
A few months ago I saw Jake & Maggie G. on Bleecker Street in the West Village, and that was very cool.

Restaurants and clubs in the Meat Packing District, Tribeca Grill, Serendipity, the Public Library, Central Park, Bloomingdale's, Broadway and Off-Broadway theatres, buses and subways, Starbucks, Duane Read, Food Emporium.

Try dining at DaSilvano on 6th Ave.
I have seen so many celebs there with their families.
i.e. Kelly Ripa, Sarah Jessica Parker, P.Diddy, Queen Latifah, Katie Couric, Ivanka Trump. You never know who you will see!

I seldom see celebs myself, but I twice was with people in SoHo who spun around, spun back with their eyes all agog, and announced that they had seen a famous director or fashion model. Once it was in a snazzy coffee place that I can't recall the name of anymore, and once it was just walking down the street.

i live in the city and seen a lot of actors downtown Manhattan. try going to DaSilvano like the other girl threes lots there and the food is Delicious but kinda expensive.
