Do you believe the end times are near? What are the signs?

Sexual immorality?

Are we less sexually moral than the Romans who had sex with little boys for pleasure because sex with women was only for reproduction.

Violence?

Are we any less violent than the Vikings, the Mongols, the Grand Inquisitor.

A client of mine was telling me that these were the signs.....

Is that true?

Wickedness has increased (crimes have gone up signifincally)

Mankind would be capable of destroying human life (atomic bomb)
Anti semitism will be prevalant
Russia (Magog) would rise as a military power
The Euphrates River would be dried up (Revelation 16:12). Today, the massive Ataturk Dam in Turkey,
Men would be lovers of themselves
Youth would become increasingly rebellious
Jesus said Christians would be hated for His name’s sake
Homosexuality would become acceptable (Luke 17:28-30).

We are also living in the last empire known as the holy roman empire which started when charlamane was crowned by Pope Leo. If you look at Daniels propehcy he told Nebuchadrezzar his dream was about a huge image made of various materials (gold, silver, brass, iron, and iron mingled with clay.) Notice Iron was Rome Empire. The Iron mingled with clay is the empire we now live in. This means that the false prophet will be the pope. The Roman Papacy says the next pope will be evil. Because they have run out of symbols, He is called Petrum Romanum. When you see him bring fire down from heaven, do not believe him. For I warn you before it happens.

It is not just the existence of these things, but a massive increase never seen before in the history of Man. Also, other signs that occur at the same time are an explosive interest in the occult (New Age movement, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, John Edwards, and lots and lots of supernatural-themed movies and TV); a massive increase in natural disasters - for example, hundreds of years ago, there would only be a major earthquake once every 300 years. Just in the last 50 years, this has increased dramatically to several times a month worldwide. Another sign would be a renewed interest in Bible Prophecy. Sexual immorality and violence would also be signs; but all these signs by themselves are not what's significant, but the fact that they are happening all at once and increased in intensity. It's like the birth pangs of a woman during labor just prior to birth. They get more intense and more frequent the closer the time gets. Other signs are a marked increase in human knowledge. It's amazing to see the technological progress we've made in only 100 years, since back then it was just horse-and-buggy. Another sign is that people will be running to and fro. We can see this from all the traffic on our freeways and in the air. If we could sit in space and see all the planes taking off and leaving from every point on the globe every day, and see all the cars running on all freeways all over the Earth, I'd say that people were running "to and fro".
All these things occurring at once are signs of the end times.

The examples you give of history's immorality are not valid in comparison to today's rampant immorality, because thousands of years after the Romans, Vikings, the Mongols, the Grand Inquisitor, we have thousands of times more knowledge of right and wrong and how to live in peace and love with one another, yet we have not only repeated the same mistakes of our ancestors, but have repeated them to a much greater degree.

Furthermore, our immorality and evil is much more ordered and calculated than our ancestors'.

Instead of doing immoral acts out of brute power, force, and pleasure, as say, the ancient Romans did, we now rationalize and justify our of our evils so as to make them socially acceptable, and by the looks of it (abortion, embryo destruction, euthanasia, gay marriage, OTC contraception, unrestrained sex, unnecessary divorce, the eroding of the family, rampant secularism and widespread disdain for anything religious, etc.) we have succeeded in doing this.

We are in the end times now, in my opinion, because we no longer have any standards for good and evil; all actions are just arbitrarily condemned or approved by the people of power and authority in our society, and with this trend, it will not be long before there is a 3rd and final world war in which humanity destroys itself.

Bleak and pessimistic, you say?

Turn on the evening news and you might change your mind.

We have been in the last days (end times) since Jesus (Heb. 1:2). Are their signs? In the Bible, 2 Thess. chapter 2 gives some insight. It indicates that there would be a great falling away from the true faith, and then the end will come. But, this sign has been occuring in these "last days" since Jesus' death. As far as specific events, i.e. the sky turning a purple/green/yellow polka dot color, or the seasons changing places, etc., there are no signs. All we know is that the end (judgement) will come suddenly (1 Thess. 5:2) like " a thief in the night."

The greatest sign was in 1948 when Israel became a nation again in one day. The Six Day War in 1967 when Israel conquered Jerusalem. The Hebrew language becoming Israel's one language after all these years. The Jews would fly back on eagle's wings. They came back to Israel via airplanes.

Isaiah 30:25 "...great slaughter, when the towers fall."
Isaiah 33:18 "Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers?"

The Bible also said in the latter days knowledge would increase and the computer has done this. The heathen would rage and imagine vain things Psalm 2, as we see on Yahoo Answers.

The shogun of Harlem is at least somewhat familiar with scripture, why do you ask this. you either believe what is written or you do not. You may very well get alot of answers that you can poke fun at, but that does not negate the truth of the Word. If Jesus said the hour was late way back then, how much more so is it now? You cannot know prophecy apart from knowing Christ, for the testimony of Jesus Christ is the spirit of prophecy. If you don't have any real interest in doing what he said, it is not likely you will be able to correctly discern the times...no matter how much input you get on this forum.

Religious leaders predict the end of the world for two reasons:
1. It's a proven motivational tool - people will do anything if they think their salvation is at risk and that the end is near
2. It's a good way to get rich as people eagerly dispense of their worldly possessions in exchange for salvation

So like most other things in the world, it's all about power and money.

The real danger now is that we have people in power - e.g. George W. Bush - who not only believe in Armageddon but who deliberately conduct foreign policy in support of those principles. For example, since the restoration of Israel is considered essential in end times prophecy, the religious right lobbies on behalf of Israel to deny attempts to forge peace through a return to pre-1967 borders per international agreements - since that would "divide Jerusalem" and contradict prophesy. A couple of years ago, Pat Robertson was going berserk over Israel giving up Gaza for the same reason. So at this point it stops being about prophecy and starts being about self-fulfilling prophecy.

It was even worse in the past, we can't say when the time of reckoning is coming and the signs are a little uncertain, yet we can not exclude the things and events that happened in past years, and I can clearly say that something will happen soon, I don't know if the end is coming but whatever it is I will fight for what I believe in.

I think the largest sign, is that Democracy is pretty well global now. The government that says, Peace and Security, when there is no peace. (Voting) The political beast, seduces the nations, makes all kinds of promises which are lies, to be the elect.
