I'm eighteen years old. I've been an inofficial ex-Muslim for three years now. Throughout these three years, I've debated dozens of Muslims, some of them twice my age. And I have yet to meet a civil intelligent Muslim who knows how to make common sense and how to base their opinions on facts and not vice versa. All I get is Muslims who use circular reasoning, cliches, copy-paste, irrelevant facts, personal attacks, religious ideology, and uninformed opinions, despite the fact that I always try and make my arguments as academic as possible. No doubt this is obvious to anyone who would read Muslim answers and questions here. Now why are Muslims so lacking in debating skills? Why, instead of real debate, do they use evasive and misleading tactics? I find it frustrating, intellectually dishonest, and rude. And even look here, I promise some Muslims will answer in the exact same way I discussed above, or report me to shut me up.

One Who Submits, thank you for being the first Muslim to prove my point. Your first reaction is to preach about the virtues of Islam, to say I wasn't a "true" Muslim, and to bring Yaum Al Qiyyaama into play. Once again, you base your facts on opinions in an answer to my question. This is your usual reaction to questions like mine.

Coz they have nothing to base their debate on when the Quran and Hadiths themselves prove islam to be an inhuman ideology meant to suppress people! What they then use is the concept called "Takkiyah" that is lying to convince people to furthur the cause of Islam.

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

I am an 18 year old Muslim as well who takes great pride in being guided to the straight path of Islamic Monotheism and praying to our Oft-Forgving, Most-Merciful Creator 5 times a day.
You are committing the fallacy of hasty generalization by saying Muslims lack debating skills. You should know the Great Scholars, of the four schools of Jurisprudence, all abhorred Theological Rhetoric. If you do not wish be to Muslim (which I doubt you were a true one anyways) and live in a non-Muslim country, do as you wish but know, the Day of Judgment is true and you will be called to account for your deeds.

[017:015] Whoever goes right, then he goes right only for the benefit of his own self. And whoever goes astray, then he goes astray to his own loss. No one laden with burdens can bear another's burden. And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger (to give warning).

sometimes you dont have to be a good debater just to prove your point.. just like in judicial proceedings, people may view things in different angles, everyone has their own opinion.. you alone can find answers together with some articles, teachings, books... and i think it's not only muslims lacked in debating skills.. think about it..
have a nice day!!

depends on what country they came from to an extent

and how versed they were in both religion, language and had an intelligence point of above 130

sigh

the point is, if you were as smart as you thought you were...

you wouldnt be needing to ask this question...youd go upto the intelligent ones who can actually debate.

I think debating skills got nothing to do with religion... Debating is a practical skill, whoever practice it gets better and better, (obvious).. You need to change your location i bet you would find different people with different debating skills.
