My dog is 10 yo and not as active, but he is very strong. He pulls me if I walk him on a leash and I can't control him. We don't have a fenced in back yard. I think he is bored, what can I do?

I used to live in a low traffic residential area.
I used to let my dog run free while I rode on a bicycle.
I don't know if this was the best idea but it did work.

Maybe you can teach him to drive a cart.

About The Pulling Thin! You Have To Out Strength You Dog! My Dog Used To Pull Me Down The Street Until I Got A Shorter Leash! She Then Learned That She Couldnt Walk In Front Of Me But Beside Me! A Good Way To Excercise Is To Play Fetch With It! You Have To Run About With Him Or Go For A Nice Little Jog Around The Neighborhood! You Have To Show Whose Boss!

a dog can be very hard to train. i know how hard it is to train an older dog because well they can be very stubborn. whenever he pulls you on the leash just stop, make him come back to you, sit, and then tell him hes a good boy and move on. but as soon as that leash get tight again repeat(even if you ve only taken a few steps) this sounds silly but it really does work if you re determined. another thing is always make him sit at the door and wait for you to go out first. and if hes walking good on the leash for 5 seconds tell him how good hes being, then move it to 10 second ect.

If that doesnt work get a very long rope tie it to two trees and then attach a leash to the rope. hell get a lot of exercise. also try playing games like hide and go seek or frisbee.
hope this helps. good luck!!!

My dog used to be a puller. So then we got her a harness and a 24" leash, and we felt more in control of her. So maybe you can try a shorter leash along with a harness, and you'll feel more in control. And dogs are never to old to still be trained. Teach him to stay next to you by carrying treats with you on your walk. Hold him close to you, and give him a treat. When he starts pulling ahead, tap the side of your leg, and tell him to come...if he listens give him a treat. It's basically teaching them to heel.

There are long 30-50ft. leashes available. Take your dog to a park on one of these, he'll be able to run but you'll be able to hold him. If you have a yard, but it just isn't fenced, get a tether for him out there so he can run around safely. They sell them at places like walmart, they're long covered wires with clasps on the ends. i have one for my dog because my yard is not fenced, he can run and play fetch like crazy back there.

You should go to pet store to buy some toys or balls for your dog. This way, he can play while gets exercised in the house. This is how I try to get my dog exercised, and she loves it, especially, when I play with her. I throw the toys for her, and she will run to get them. I hope this will help you:-).
