No and Yes.

No, Iraq won't be another Vietnam because total American casualties, including dead, wounded, and permanently maimed will not reach the level attained in Vietnam.

On the other hand, Iraq will be another Vietnam in terms of the extreme loss of prestige and political influence the US will suffer around the world. It will be another Vietnam in terms of the physical and psychological damage that we, as a nation, have decided to inflict upon another generation of young Americans.

In fact, Iraq will be much worse than Vietnam. We entered this war as a superpower. We will leave, sooner or later, greatly weakened and with the certainty that our economic and military supremacy has been greatly reduced.

Now how many of you are actually old enough to remember the Viet Nam war? I doubt many of you. No it is not there is a big difference, right now about 55,000 mens worth of difference. There are similarities though. Like the anti-war movement! Fighting a PC war! Politicians in charge not the men on the ground!

It will be if we don't provide the support necessary to simi-gracefully wrap things up and give the current Iraqi government a chance to grow strong enough to defend itself from the radicals.
