I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra (special edition). I love the car for its fuel economy but I am unsatisfied with its acceleration. How can I increase my HP.

i drive a nissan sentra se-r and i found out the best way to awnser this question is go to www.b15sentra.net and sign up with that forum and utilize the search bar there you will find everything from a basic cai to a turbo kit for your car.. it is alot of help and you will learn alot to having you sentra out performing most imports in no time if you have the time and resorces to get the parts.. good luck...

Can't say I blame you there...which is why I never even considered a Sentra and went straight for the Z!

However, you can try to add exhaust mods or maybe an aftermarket turbo or supercharger....though I've NEVER heard of or seen a Sentra set up this way.

Check out the net to see if any Nissan Sentra forums exist, like they do for the 350Z. If so, there should be people who've done mods to their Sentras.

I agree with both the posters that said CAI and Catback and a chip.....and that a CAI won't do a whole lot....it will do a little but not a whole lot.

If money was an issue, definetly go with the Catback although since you have an import, I would go with a japanese aftermarket part (HKS, Greddy, Trust). Go headers, CAI, high flow cat (if smog is not an issue in your state) then get the chip.

If money is not an issue, go for the gusto. Stillen supercharger. But you'll need to change the fuel filter and the injectors with it so it should total about $5k after installation.

I drive an 01 Sentra 2.0 SE w/ 5spd trans. I put a CAI and cat back exhaust and found minimal gains. It does give me a little more push from second to third gear and of course it makes the car much louder. Fun car to drive for the price but they are not meant to be super fast. Upgrade to a SE-R Spec V and you'll get better performance.

You could add a CAI but this will give you little to no extra HP gain, add a cat-back exhaust system, by borla, flowmaster or zoomers and add a power chip.

If you want more power then you should seriously look at upgrading your car to a SE-R Spec V or a car with more HP if you want better acceleration without spending a lot of money upgrading your performance.

You will get better bang for your Dollar by upgrading to the SE-R Spec V or better Performance car because, you will spend more money upgrading the performance & suspension components, seats and interior trim to match the price of a SE-R Spec V or better performance car.

This was the very reason I upgraded from a Magnum RT AWD to a Magnum SRT8 was it would cost me well over double the cost to upgrade my RT AWD to match the peformance and suspension & interior trim of a SRT8.

Probably the quickest and easiest way to pick up a few additional horsepower is to swap out the OEM air filter with a higher flowing filter such as K&N or another brand. You may be able to even get a cold air induction setup for your car, but I am not 100% sure about that. FYI, this will make the motor also slightly louder in the passenger compartment, but for those of us who like a little grunt in our cars, that usually isn't a problem. Another way you can go in the future, is to switch out your exhaust for a better flowing system, but that will cost more money, and make your car significantly louder.

Anything you do to increase hp may also decrease your economy. They could also void your warranty. Be careful what you do.

Good aftermarket free flowing air filter and exhaust will help a little, but may not be worth the expense. They shouldn't effect the fuel mileage or the warranty. Other than that, see above.

easy way to increase your acceleration is to give your car a good service ( plugs ,engine flush, fully synthetic oil, filter etc) after the service you will feel the increase in acceleration and make sure you use good quality fuel(99 ron) i live in england and i use shell v-power or bp ultimate this cleans your engine and gives better economey and better acceleration. If you look after your car it will look after you

the 1.8 is not very peppy although the 5sp is more responsive than the auto . save your money its not a race car , a intake exhaust just makes extra noise and headers are a no no warranty void due the catalytic converter is in the exhaust manifold

i have one but 2005, its very easy...just go to AUTOZONE and buy 2 injector cleaners, and 1 bottle of motor oil additive and you ´ll have 10 % + of HP, it´s true!
