Electric toothbrush. With a normal toothbrush people have a tendency to press too hard/too soft, they miss their gums and the gaps in between teeth. An electric toothbrush also helps to lower the problem that most people have of missing one side of their mouth (ie. a right hander misses the right corner of the mouth when brushing - watch yourself closely, most people are unaware of this) As a dental student, we tend to recommend electric toothbrushing as it is much more uniform technique.

definitely an electric one. i've tried a manual (normal) toothbrush, and electric ones. i've tried the cheap battery operated ones from drugstores for like 10 bucks but they are only a little better than manual toothbrushes. i've recently purchased a professional toothbrush and it was about 150 dollars but let me tell you, it's so worth it! i actually look forward to brushing my teeth, these things do all the work for you cause they're rotating at such a high speed. it feels like you just had it professionally cleaned at the dentist's office. trust me, it's worth the investment!

It depends on the user. People tend to spend more time brushing with the Electric tooth brush. Especially the oscillating ones. The movement of the brush and duration of brushing makes the Electric brush better. I

A normal brush is better. You can guide it and brush harder. An electric is a soft brushing that will not clean as good as you could with a manual brush. It gets in there and does a far better job.

I prefer the normal, because you control the pressure you put on those gums and teeth. Electric seems lazy to me and not as effective. If you really want to use an electric, use the sonicare. My kids both have braces and thats what the orthodontist recommended for them. It seems to be working great for them.

i would say electric as it rotates faster than you can brush and keeps your teeth cleaner (is just my opinion)
