Well its usually best to not argue religion in the workplace. You are the bigger man because you can't get sued for religious discrimination or harassment.

I am a Christian and I fully commend the fact you did not argue. I think if you were gracious enough in just listening. Lots of times people are not the "bigger person". You don'[t have to agree with people on their opinions to be a good listener. I applaud you, yes you did the correct (and actually very Christian) thing. Yes as a Christian I want people to know God, but like any other relationship you cannot force it. I am a stronger Christian because I discovered my own relationship with God, not because I was forced by someone.

yes you were. Jesus never told us to argue. He said if He be lifted up on the Earth, He'll do the drawing. SO congrats to you from a christian, you were the bigger man!

I'm not sure. I think that we have to challenge each other's beliefs, especially when they are beliefs- like those of religions- that have a direct effect on the way people live and treat others. The alternative is insanity.

If he was indeed "preaching" and didn't really care about you, rather just about getting points with God, then you did the right thing. It's not worth the effort. However, if he was sharing with you something important to him, and you disagreed, then you could have just given him a sincere thanks for caring. I don't argue with everyone who gives me advice I dont' agree with, whether religious or not. I appreciate the care and concern.

You did, just as you have a right to your own beliefs, he has the right to follow whatever faith he wants. If he does not force his religion on you, then why start an argument that has a foregone conclusion? To each his own.

Well, yes, and you are a better person than me! If this happened to me in my office I would probably not say anything, but if it happened outside of my working world, I would have said something, politely, but still something.

You should have said, "Excuse me, this is a place of business, and you are interrupting me. You must leave."

This removes the whole debating religion point, and whether or not you believe in the same things.

If the person refuses to leave, offer them a police escort. Problem solved!

technically he should only be preaching if the coworkers around him don't mind, and yes you should have debated with him. the Bible tells christians to,"study to show thyselves apporved". Debating with him is a good way to see if he's a knowledgable christian and if your a knowledgable atheist.

I just usually tell them they are not going to get any where with their arguments and preaching and that i have no problem with them praying for me so if they would please limit their interference into my beliefs to that then we should both have the results that we desire since they believe God is supposed to answer prayer
