My father and his wife used to raise Cocker Spaniels and I'll give some of the names I remember;
Gidgett, she was blonde, Tiffany, she was white, Bonnie Belle, she was bi-color, can't remember anymore Cocker females.
When it comes time to name a new animal, I go about this a couple of different ways;
1. Let the animal's personality decide the name. i.e. a laid back hound dog could be Waylon or Jake, a hyper bouncy terrier could be Spunky or Terror : )
2. When I know that a new animal is coming into my life I usually already have a name picked out and I find the puppy to fit the name. i.e. Many years ago I was shopping for a German Shepherd (Only have female dogs), well I knew her name was gonna be Samantha, after visiting many puppies I decided on one that the breeders named Pickle, she became Samantha Lea GA Girl ~ We called her Sam!
3. Animals come back to us, I firmly believe that and on rare occassion I will name a animal that I know that I have spent time with. i.e. My familar (cat) has came back to me three times, the first two times his name was Badon, this last time I named him BA.
Need some more unusual female pet names?
Beltania ~ ~Mystique
Brosia ~ ~Pearle
Avalon ~ ~Brighid
Artemis~ ~Celeste
Tinsel ~ ~Brea
Hope this helps, enjoy your new friend, best of luck!

Here's a great website where you can pick the dog's attributes to narrow down the choice of names. My first girl cocker was names Chipper for her temperament. Her nickname was Chippi.

what about freckles?
i have a springer spaniel. she's completely black, named midnite. but we call her middy or mid. i call her chorty or chore.
have a favorite movie or show with people with weird names? our new puppy is named Gobo. from fraggle rock.
what about tristan. its kinda a boys name, but i always liked it for a girls name. or what about mickey? that can go both ways too. i would look up foreign names, or latin words that might discribe here.
other names my family has used on pets: cher, smokey, spot, bingo, lucky, bandet, hammy (hampster), cathulu, wiggles, ***** & animal (mated pair of clownfish - name of a band)

Have you tried names from your favorite groups, songs or movies? My husband and I love Cat Stevens and The Beatles. Our German shepherd's registered name was Moonshadow. One of our other dogs was named, Penny (after the Beatles' "Penny Lane").

Have you researched foreign girl names, that way maybe it wouldn't seem too girlie and still be femine enough to keep you happy? Good luck.
