The last thing the world needs is another puppy mill.... Find a different job or hobby. You certainly will be hard pressed to find anyone with true knowledge here willing to help. Of course there is the ML they will give you some truly moronic suggestions.

Learn all you can about genetics. Purchase the best genetic breeding lines that you can and breed your dogs with improvement of the breed in mind. Place your pups with good homes where people fully understand the intricacies of your particular breed and offer a clause in your contract that you must be given a chance to find the dog a home if any time in the future he/she is no longer wanted. If you breed dogs with genetic flaws, have them neutered and given away or sold as "pet status" only.

Save your best of litters to show and continue breeding. Showing dogs successfully will increase the value of their bloodlines.

Hi, Sidd, I've been researching the same thing myself as I am planning to do the same. First of all as a dog/animal lover, I respect your outlook that puppies are not just products and I woud suggesst, if you havent' foun one already, finding a breed that you have a passion for and that is suitabe to your needs/current situation. (ie. i have a 3 year old and a baby on the way I'm looking at Staffordshire Bull Terriers and owning a Bull Mastiff as well.) Once you have done that you should research the conditions required by you local law and code enforcement so that you are qualified to obtain any license necessary (n it will usually depend on how many litters you plan to breed per year, should be no more than 2 per female). Also I highly recommend you research on the AKC, or American Kennel Club, wesite. Their address is http://www.akc.org. They have very useful and legitimate information there. I hope this helps you! Good Luck!

I've been working the industry for 30+ years and have comprehensive understanding of the ins and outs.

To do it correctly, you'll need about $85,000 up front to cover the very "basics" during the first year.
