Ok, for instance, his name is John. I would say:
John, I know we have been friends for a while...and I dont know how youre gonna take this but, I have to get this off my chest, I have feeling for you beyond friendship...I want it to be more. I find myself think about you all the time and I was wondering was it jsut me?

Ok you don't have to tel him that you like him, just ask him if he likes you... And ask him how? if just like a friend or if he will consider some kind of relationship etc. Never tell him you like him because then he will think that you asking him that kind of questions because you like him too...That will be not good for you if he knows it. Unless he say that he always like you and the way that you want him to like you...So then you are free to say that you like him...Other wise you will scare him away...All depends in the frienship betwen both of you too...

The best way is just to be up front with it. Just ask him if he likes you. The next time you talk to him, say this. "HEY, I HAVE A QUESTION THAT I NEED YOU TO ANSWER FOR ME. DO YOU LIKE ME?" That way you're not buying time and you're straight forward with him.

tell him the truth... otherwise you will get a major crush sooner than later and you will hate yourself for not knowing whats inside the guy or for not asking before it got so deep

Give him a hypothetical.
IE: "So if we were dating........" Or something similar. You'll get the point from how quickly and how excited he gets in answering.

Jokingly say- I want you, I need you, oh baby oh baby (from 10 things I hate about you) and see how he reacts. (he he he- stupid I know, but it works and saves you from possible rejection.)
