No one knows with any certainty what Hell is, but we do know that Hell is a total separation from God and to those of us who believe - that in itself is torture. A grave is a place for the body.

Hell does mean the grave, even the dictionary says so. The discription of hell in the bible are symbolic (Revelation 1:1) (fire is a symbol of destruction).

Where is Adam now? Is he being tormented? Or is he in the grave? Remember God told Adam that if he ate from the tree, he would DIE.... Satan said that was a lie and he would not die.

You would have to be alive to be tormented right? So if you believe that he is being tormented, you would be agreeing with satan. But since God cannot lie it would then be reasonable to conclude that hell is the grave.

I have much more proof on this ... eg. the bible says Jesus went to hell...(the grave) Acts 2 :27.. yes when he died for our sins..
As for the story of Lazarus and the rich man, the fire wasn't real, Abraham's bosom wasn't real either. etc

If you ask a question that can only be answered by scripture and if you want the right answer, you need to search scripture. For example: Ecclesiastes:9:5,10 King James Version says, “the dead know not any thing,” it would be impossible for them to know conscious torment. And since there is no work in hell, how can there be activity, red-hot or otherwise? It means Grave.
see Rev 20:13 to see what happens to "Hell"

Hell is a burning torture, many religions have described it as a place with pain and suffering, it s interesting to see that Buddhism, Islam and Daoism all have detailed descriptions on the punishments that a sinner suffers.

It quite a scare just to image those descriptions to be real.

I think the grave, because in the bible if you read Revelation, Hell gets cast into the Lake of Fire. When people say hell I don't hink they know what they are saying. Satan gets cast into the Lake of Fire before Death and Hell. That's why it's so important to read and ask the spirit of wisdom to open up your spirit eye to see what the spirit is saying.

Interesting question - often death and hell are spoken of as being very linked together.

The way I see it: There are two kinds of death - physical death (separation of the spirit and body), and spiritual death (separation from God).

I think there is a degree of sorrow in being separated from our bodies (hell-like sorrow? I don't know - good thing there's a promised Resurrection). As far as spiritual hell (or spiritual death) I don't picture physical flames ( I mean what could a physical flame do to a spiritual body?) But I guess it feels that way on some spiritual/emotional level that I don't really understand.

It means the common grave. Fire is linked with the word "Gehenna" and the fire is symbolic for everlasting destruction. There is no torture in fire from the Loving God who gave us the right and freedom to choose whether or not we want to worship Him.

hell means the common grave. Jehovah is a loving God, why would he harm us after we die. dust you are and dust you will return. the devil wants people to think that Jehovah God will harm us when we die. Jehovah is an awesome Father and he would never even think of doing such an awful thing to us

Hell is where people go when they die if they did not accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

The burning torture is the Lake of Fire, described in Revelations.
