I am trying to write a research paper on snake handling churches and I would like to attend a service somewhere in WV. I know there is supposed to be one in Jolo, WV but I am unable to find an address or phone number. Does anyone know where this church is located and/or any other snake handling churches in the state?

Most of these churches base the handling of snakes,usually rattlesnakes, on 1 verse in the bible.Most of these churches come from the mountain folk in the Tennessee Valley.They will also drink Strychnine ,which is poison.They think that if their faith is strong enough it won't hurt them.Let me tell you a little known secret that my departed G.ma told me.Her G.pa was a preacher in one of these churches,probably 100 yrs. ago & back then she said he would let the snakes bite chickens to drain the venom before service.Never been to one myself & I sure wouldn't handle a rattlesnake.
