1- bf might be overweight (and no it doesn't mean obese) but he might need to losesome weight n order to clear his nasal canals and overal have better sleep.

2-he might have sleep apnee and his body cannot control the air intake and such. Sleep apnee can be fatal also.

3-he needs to get used to sleep on his side and not on his back. Use the right pillow also.

4-buy ear plugs

Snoring is caused by an obstruction in the airway. The tongue falls back against the soft pallet and if air is not coming through the nasal passages properly, then the air is pulled past this construction of tongue and pallet, causing the snoring. If the snoring is not stopped, it can lead to Apnia where the breathing stops periodically.

I've had four surgeries to correct snoring and I still snore. I snore less, but it's still there. I urge you to get your boyfriend to a good Ear/Nose and Throat Dr. and have him discuss the options. They can use lasers in the nasal passage to open it up and they can do other surgeries in the throat to allow more air to pass by the soft pallet.

In the meantime, consider BREATH RIGHT STRIPS. They open the nasal passage a bit more and allow easier breathing which alleviates the snoring. There are a couple of over the counter sprays which you spray in the back of the throat (like a sort throat spray). I've not found them to be of much use, but each person is different. You may find they work great for you.

You might want to see a doctor for two reasons. Snoring can be caused by a few things like having adnoids that are to large and close of some of the air passages while sleeping. Also there is a sleeping apnia which if left untreated can cause heart problems. Most people with sleep apnia are over weight. People with sleep apnia stop breathing while they are sleeping.

Try Breathe Right strips. They will open up his nose better. If that doesn't work, then either you move to another bedroom or he gets a sleep study to see where the snoring is coming from. Sometimes they have to do surgery and cut the uvula in the back of the throat.

If his snoring is really bad it could be a symptom of a serious medical condition called sleep apnea. Have you noticed that he stops breathing for short periods of time during the night? That is a symptom. He should consider seeing a doctor.

You can have him try over the counter products. There are the nose passage opening strips and the throat coating spray. Both you can get at any good drugstore. If it continues, he could have a medical condition called a deviated septum that can be corrected by surgery. If he is heavy, it could be weight related or he could have a form of sleep apnea (where his throat muscles relax to the point of cutting off his air supply).

I'd try the over the counter stuff first then have him approach it medically.

Your boyfriend probably has sleep apnea. Which can be an indicator of a health problem.Try to talk about it with him.

Meanwhile, you might want to consider taking a pillow and blanket to the couch so you can rest.

Good luck.
