My oldest will be 3 in April. She weighs 34 pounds. My youngest will be 2 in April. She only weighs 22 pounds. My oldest daughter's weight seems about right, but my youngest daughter's doesn't. She eats all the time but doesn't gain any weight. Does this sound normal?

My neice is 5 and she is the same way. She eats and eats but when you look at her you would wonder if we feed her!!

There are adults who can eat a lot and not gain much either. Unless your doctor shows concerned I wouldn't worry about it. She just might be one of the lucky ones!

For you own peace of mind, take both girls in for a checkup. The doctors will chart their growth and can let you know how they are doing. 34 is a good weight for a 3 year old. 22 is kind of small for a 2 year old, but your daughter isn't 2 yet. If she is eating a lot and has frequent diarrhea or her stools seem oily then you should definitely get her checked out, it may be that she's not absorbing the fat in her diet. If her stools seem OK, then she is probably just going to be one of those lucky people who can eat what they want and not get fat. Either way, her pediatrician is the best person to tell you whether it is normal or not.

I would say that her weight sounds about right. I have a son who will be 2 next month and he weighs 26 pounds. My daughter who turned 3 in October weighs 30 pounds. Every child's metabolism is different.

What does your doctor say? Each child grows at different rates and while one may take after one side of the family, the other may take after the other side of the family. The almost two year old is probably a little less than the average almost two year old. I base this on my granddaughter who will also be two in April and who is almost the same weight and whose doctor said "on the charts" she is 50% meaning there are 50% of kids her age who weigh more and 50% who weigh less. If she is eating properly and you feel she is getting good nutrition I wouldn't worry about it as long as your doctor agrees with that.

My son was 28 pounds when he was a year and now is 33 pounds at 2. he is very tall for his age and is as tall as a 4 yr old. He is above average. On the other hand I have a 9 month old who is very average in weight and height. Every child is different. My sister who is older is very slim with no curves, I am slim, but with curves, I'm different, and that how it is.

It's normal for my daughter. She is 2 and at her last dr. visit weighed around 23 lbs. She has always been small for her age, she gets it from me. Her appetite is fine and she is healthy. However, I know a 1 yr. old who outweighs her, and has for some time now.

Yes, Mom it's very normal.

My son is 3 years old and weights 30lbs.

Doctor said he's very healthy.

Doc would rather see him this way then being over weight.

You can relax!.

Best of Luck
