I took zoloft years ago and it didn't seem to do much but I just started taking it for anxiety (not the same reason as before) and I usually experiance side effects from these kinds of meds. Is it possable that my brain has a memory of this med. and will respond quicker this time?

I am in Pharmacy and it will take between 3 to 4 weeks for the drug to build up into your body for you to get maximum benefit. Your brain has no memory of this med, it will be your body and brain that needs to absorb the drug. Good Luck !!!! Blessings !!!

I don't think it's your brain that remembers, it's your body that just reacts. I took Zoloft for a while a few years ago and it worked really well for anxiety and depression, but unfortunately it really gave me the runs so I had to quit. Not to say that it will affect you that way, everyone's different. I would think if you're going to have any side effects from it, they will show up in a week or two. Often the doctor will want you to try it for a month before you decide, it takes a while for the drug to build up in your system and start working. Good luck to you.

it is possible your body remembers taking it. unfortunetly it might have built up an immunity to it to like we do to certain antibiotics. i would wait it out a few days and see what happens. that group of anti depressant/anti anxiety meds usually take a week up to a month to actualy show results. ive had bad experiences with them all. paxil, zoloft, lexapro and a few others. i just learned to deal with it and rarely have attacks. i had several a day. it helps if you go talk to someone. it really does. they teach you methods and such and talk about what triggers them.
