I was feeling sick about 2 months ago, I went to the doctor... the doctor said that I had an upper respitory infection. He prescribed medications (3) that I took as directed. After one week, I still wasnt feeling any better. So I went back to the doctor, where they didnt even see me, they just wrote me another 2 prescriptions. I finally got better for about one week, and then I started to feel ill again. Same symptoms... I went to the doctor and they wrote me more prescriptions.... this has happened 5 times within 2 months...I am tired of being sick! I want to leave my doctor and go see a better one. But dont want to spend alot of money going to see different doctors. Is there a website or place where I can go and choose a doctor by rating or schooling. I would love it if a doctor would actually spend some time trying to figure out what is wrong with me, rather than feed me pills to make it go away for a week.

do you have a fever
call your local hospital and ask for the name of the director of medicine or find a pulmonary (lung) specialist
you can also contact the state licensing board in your state
capital to get names of reputable doctors in your area
any doctor who refuses to see you when you return to the office but gives you prescriptions i would definitely stay away from

You should probably take a look at the things you are doing on a daily basis.

Are you doing drugs, drinking, or are you a heavy smoker?
Do you exercise?
Do you eat right?
Are you getting enough sleep?
How's your stress.

Believe it or not; those are very important factors in determining how healthy you are. If you can balance out those areas, you might see that you'll feel a lot better.
If that doesn't work, you might just want to spend the money to see a different doctor because there could be something wrong with the defense of your immune system.

Pills, pills, and more pills. More and more doctors treat their patients more like cattle and less like people. I don't blame them sometimes, we sick our lawyers on them frivolously far too often.

Try and help yourself first. Our you getting enough vitamin C? Don't take and antibiotic unless you absolutely need it. Try getting a steamer, place your head over it and make a hood out of a towel to contain the steam. Breath in deeply through your nose. Do this for about an hour. Repeat it later in the day. Rub a little mentholated salve under your nose if to help clear your sinuses.

After a few days you'll feel right as rain.

My sister went to the same doctor off and on for 8 months trying to get her upper respiratory system healed. They finally diagnosed possible cancer. Then they ran tests for cancer...they were all negative. No cancer. Finally they found (at a major hospital) a simple staph infection that could have been cured with penicillin. Unfortunately the infection had gone on so long that it got into her blood stream and went to her brain and actually dissolved her brain cells. The reason I've gone into such detail on this is to say...PLEASE get thorough testing done and get second opinions. I held my sister's hand as she died.

First, your insurance should provide you with a list of doctors available in your area. Check their website for the listings. You need a general practitioner. After my son had several ear infections as a toddler and getting meds from doctors for 10 days, a pharmacist woke me up and told me that people need meds for 14 days. After I demanded meds for 14 days for my son, he never had a problem with ear infections. The same applies in your case. Go back to the doctor and tell him you want the meds for 14 days and see what happens.

You should be able to find something by using Google, at least. And yes, you should leave your doctor: He's more interested in your wallet than you, and you're better off with no doctor at all!

Meanwhile, trying a healthier lifestyle wouldn't hurt anything.

Good luck.
