Just the other day I brought my son to a playgroup and for some reason one of the little boys was afraid of - ME! I said Hi to him and he went screaming to his mother. Every time after that throughout the play period anytime I made any eye contact with him he had this look of horror on his face and ran to his mom. His mother said it was because he is shy but it was weird to me because it has never happened to me before, nor does he do that with the other moms in the group.
Two years ago our niece (who was 3 at the time) was horrified by a doll that we gave her.
My dog is afraid of some of my son's toys (I know, not quite the same but I had to share it).

My son was afraid of the grass. He was fine with dirt or gravel but he would not go into the grass. He is 20 months now and he loves to run around in the yard now, but before he would cry and scream if we put him down in the grass. The first time he stepped into the grass by himself was so funny. He would just put his toe in the grass the bring it back like something bit him.. Then when he finally put his foot down and realized it was Ok, there was no turning back.

I once worked with a 2 year old that was terrified of her own shadow. Funny for me not so much for her. I think I saw a little girl on Americas Funniest Home videos doing the same thing.

My 2 year old is deathly afraid of our vacuum. As soon as I roll it out of the closet, he runs away crying. Once, he climbed up into my husband's lap and literally peed his pants. It came out of his diaper and onto his daddy's shirt. It's not really funny, but you know...
I keep running it, even though he is scared, in hopes that he will get used to it.

when my 2 sons were small they watched Little Bear. well' one day it was about a thunder monster. my brother was over, told them if they were bad the thunder monster would get them. as soon as he said that a really big crash of thunder came and the lights went out!my boys were hiding and whimpering under the kitchen table. i've told them this story and they think it's really hilarious now!
