Hi there...consider Nature's Miracle Just For Cats found worldwide at most pet stores. It's an enzymatic neutralizer which works by breaking down urine proteins by thoroughly soaking the areas affected and allowing to air dry. Repeated applications are necessary for heavily soiled areas.

Nature's Miracle Just For Catsproduct info: http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441775019&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302025596&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023690&bmUID=1167132360710&itemNo=0&Ntt=nature%27s+miracle+just+for+cats&In=All&previousText=nature%27s+miracle+just+for+cats&N=2

We've tested nearly all enzyme neutralizers available in the marketplace for our exotic cats which have stronger urine than domestic cats and found that Nature's Miracle Just for Cats has always worked the best.

This is a very good question but Vinegar WILL NOT work contrary to what people say.
The cat urine gets into the padding and the sub flooring and that's all she wrote unless you have the money to replace all that. I had to have my carpets cleaned professionally before I moved into my house and that helped a little. I have tried the vinegar trick and no go. I have used straight arm & hammer (not that stuff that smells) the regular one, I rub it in and let it set for a few mins every time I vacuume that seems to help. Now the only time I seem to smell cat is if I smell that part of the carpet and I can bearly smell it.Hope this helps good luck

Well I use something that works every time and gets the odors out completely. Pour a little less than a 1/4 cup of bleach, 1/4 cup of oxy clean, and a couple drops of vinegar in a solution of hot water. Pour it directly over the area of carpet and leave for a while before dabbing it up or using a carpet cleaner over the area. This totally neutralizes the odor as well as kills all the bacteria. I do the same for dog accidents. There is a chemical reaction that works for any stains. Be careful not to use too much bleach as to remove color of carpet.

It's not only on the carpet, but has probably soaked into the carpet padding as well.
If possible, pull up the carpet and replace the area of the padding that was soaked. You can duct tape the padding into place.
Spray a cat urine neutralizer on the backside of the carpet as well as the front side.

It can be done. First you want to clean the area throughly with hot water. Heat some water in a kettle and pour on the area, then sock up the water with a wet vac. You may want to do this serveral times. After the area has dried spray the area liberally with product called Odor Ban. You can find it at most large retail stores (Walmart, Sams, Target, and I believe Home Depot). This will not only get rid of the odor but will kill any remaining bacteria. It is safe for your pet so dont worry and can also be used on furniture and cloths. Hope all comes clean for you.

Vinegar. Nothing else will work. Trust me.

50% white vinegar, 50% water. Let it soak in. It should dilute the ammonia that makes cat urine smell so bad. Commercial products do not work. You also need to take that cat to the vet and see why kitty has taken it upon herself to urinate on your carpet. The problem won't go away on it's own.

ONE crazy thing, and only one thing, works. Vodka.

We were experiencing a serious problem with our 2 adult cats who were separated from their mother too young and developed some bad behaviors that could never be broken. A couple that rescues and adopts out 100's of cats from their apartment shared this gem with us after $100's of dollars on odor control products with "enzymes" that failed.

1) You MUST replace the padding under your carpet.
2) Completely saturate your carpet with vodka and let it soak and evaporate on its own with the help of a fan if you like.
3) Do not discipline your cat if you don't catch them in the act because they can not associate the discipline with their actions after the fact, it causes anxiety and will amplify your problem.
4) You have to solve the problem by figuring out what the cause is, if you can.

Sometimes the cause is simply changing the litter type, changing the box, not cleaning the box frequently enough, changing the box placement (no privacy), introducing new cats/pets, any changes to their habits... It can also be a sign of urinary tract disorder and should be investigated if this is a new behavior.

ugh i had a cat that peed EVERYWHERE on my carpet, and i tried EVERYTHING.... the only thing that worked decent was this organic stuff i bought at a pet supply store thats made for pet urine.... i cleaned the areas with that then covered them up so she couldnt get in them again, luckilly for me i own a steam cleaner so then i steam cleaned my carpet. if you don't know anyone who has one, you can rent them for a day at Krogers and it's like 50$ but you get the money back when you bring the machine back. good luck cat pee is the worst!
