the ST doesn't actually mean anything, like the XR series, it's just a sporty title, the 24 is for 24 valve though.

ST is just a marketing ploy. It sounds like Sports Tourer, or Special Tourer, or whatever you want it to be. It was the same with the XR series, it meant nothing other than to distinguish the series from the standard cars. 24 relates to the V6's 24 valves.
