Even after I've turned them down a few times on account that I've been too busy with my work. Can't they teach them themselves? And they expect me to bring treats to the family home evening every week until the investigators are being baptized. In this case is 9 months. I thought family home evening is for LDS members only? If they want to keep the investigators interested, they should've bought the treats themselves. After all, their goal is to baptize people.

Pinkadot: It's easy for you to say cuz it's me who has to pay, not you. This is a family of 6 and there're 2 male missionaries. I'm expected to pay for the treats for 8 persons excluding me. Every week for the next 9 months. Try to see things from my perspective. I dont mind bringing treats once a month but if they want to bribe those people to be baptized, then they should come up with the treats. Why use me? I think they're being thoughtless. If they want treats they should ask different members to take turns so that it wont be too much of a burden for the member. In this case, I'm the only one who's assigned to help them. Get it? Where I'm from, everything is expensive and I am make a meager income. I can barely pay my ten percent let alone bringing goodies for people who're so much well off than I am.Of course it's not that big a deal for you cuz you can afford the treats while I can't. So stop judging me!!

I've served an LDS mission, and it's true a lot of missionaries get so used to sharing the gospel full time that they forget the rest of the world still has to work and take care of their busy lives (I remember reminding my companions of this a lot!)

Um, I suggest telling their mission president of your difficulties, and I'm sure he'd talk to them to get them to be much more moderate in their requests. (help the mission president out, and let him know what you are comfortable with - once a month? once a year? not at all?)

thanks.

It sounds like you need to talk to either your Bishop or the Mission President and explain that while you are willing to bring treats occasionally, and understand (unless I'm putting words in your mouth) the need for these investigators to be fellowshipped by members and not just missionaries, it is putting a financial hardship on you to provide FHE treats every week for 8 people. Also, (again I don't mean to put words in your mouth) you feel that the investigators might be brought around to accepting the gospel sooner if they were able to experience FHE with several families in the ward and not just yours. Especially if it's going to take 9 months. (Although I am a little confused how they know it will take 9 months for them to be ready to be baptized.
If you are a ward missionary, then it sounds like you may be due for a break. However, it could be the anonimity of the Internet which allows you to express your feelings in this way. --Your statements do sound a little harsh. However, I've expressed feelings on another topic in like manner online using words I'd never use irl.

Do you have a calling in the ward/stake that involves you with the missionary discussions/missionary work? I think you are sounding a little bitter about something that is not that big of a deal...seriously, just talk to the missionaries, tell them how you feel. Maybe even talk to the bishop and he can talk to them. Depends on the investigators too, if they are all female, there must be some other people there besides just the missionaries...I am sure there is some explanation. You are getting a little bent of out shape. Just settle down. How hard is it to make treats or even buy them?

This happened to our family too. We finally told them that we really didn't have time to help with that due to our busy work schedules. They mean well, but I guess you have to remember that these are 19 and 20 year old young men, and sometimes don't think about this stuff. Just talk to them like we did, and they'll stop calling. You can also call their mission president and tell hime what's going on so he can have talk with all of them and let them know what is and is not appropriate. As far as Family Home Evening, they are teaching these people what it's about and encouraging them to do it. There's nothing wrong with that.

Go meet them, but go prepared. Fill with the Spirit of God, and with Love.

Do not treat them like Christian, just treat them as any other un-church, as they have yet to know the real true Jesus.

Stay away from them. They're a cult. Satan was Jesus' brother? You can become a God? Please.
