Depends on the day and circumstance.

Daily, carry or close at hand for protection I have a Browning Hi Power and a Sig 229. Backup to that I have a tuned East German Makarov in my desk drawer at work.

Near the bedroom but very hard to find for anyone but me, Remington 870, pistol grip.

Packed in a crate and ready to 'bug out' to the wilderness in a moment's notice, besides survival essentials I have an AK (polymer stock, trigger job, red-dot sight, 30rd mags) plus two tuned and tested SKSs and another Browning 9mm for whoever may be with me and "enough" ammo in sealed tins.

Deer hunt, brush. Customized Mauser action in .308, scout rifle setup.

Deer hunt, open country. .270 Weatherby Mark V w/Leupold

Bigger than I'll ever need: CZ 550 American Safari Magnum in .458 Winchester Magnum. I just had to have one.

Since we are in the "Hunting" question section I will take it that we are talking about hunting rifles?

I have a Browning A-Bolt Synthetic Stalker in .270 Win. topped with a 3-12 x 56mm Redfield Ultimate Illuminator scope for light game hunting.

Squirrel hunting calls for my Ruger 10/22 or my Remington 870 12 Ga.

Big Game hunting has me reaching for my Remington 700 LSS in .300 Remington Ultra Magnum.

Duck and Geese hunting I reach for my Browning Gold Stalker or Beretta AL391 Urika according to the terrain.

It’s best to have a selection, and understand the advantages and disadvantages of each.
