Any one of them would have escaped IF they believed God. But they didn't. They didn't believe God, and so they stayed and faced punishment. Lot and his family left because they did believe God.
So whther Gay or not, they could have escaped IF they believed God. That was true in those days, and it's still true today.
Who do you trust? Is it your lack of being Gay, or is it God in whom you trust?

Yes they are correct. While some gay acts were mentioned as part of what was wrong with the city, the reason it was destroyed was that, with the exception of Lot's family, there wasn't a decent person in the whole place. Lot even told God, c'mon, that can't be!, so God dared him to find one good person and he couldn't. So God destroyed the place before its evil spread.

I like to let people make their own decisions, and hate when things are taken out of context. So here are the verses all full as i could get them, with consideration for the length. Also note that the quote from Ezekiel meant the sins of Sodom could not have been prostitution, idolatry, or adultery. And "sister" refers to "sister city" not actual females. Here are the bible verses in reference to Sodom- (all from NIV)
Genesis 18: 20, 21 Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous 21 that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."
Genesis 13:13 Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.
Genesis 19: 5-8 They [the men of Sodom, young and old] called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."6 Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him 7 and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing. 8 Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don't do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof."
Ezekiel 16:49-50 "Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen." (please note that given the references that come before this, that the sins of Sodom could not have been prostitution, idolatry or adultery)

It was not destroyed for only one particular behaviour, it was generally evil. The outcry against it prompted God to act against it. Homosexual sin was part of it, but not all of it. See Ezekiel 16:49 for some of the other sins of Sodom.

Actually, it's not just gays. Many Christian and Jewish theologians come to the same conclusion -- If the reason it was to be destroyed was sexual impurity, why would the holy man have offered his virgin daughters to be raped, instead of condeming the sexual impurity?
Soddom and Gemorrah were destroyed because the people were showing inhospitaltiy, a grave sin at the time, since inhospitality could literally have been fatal to the person you turned away. Travel was harsh and people would often arrive at their destinations badly dehydrated and hungry. In short, inhospitality was tantimount to attempt to murder.

I don't think so. i don't have anything against gay people, but that is what the Bible says. There is no proof for that, but anyway, if it was destroyed for something else, for what? They should give an answer when they say it was destroyed for something else.
If they feel offended by this, it doesn't mean they can just say it's wrong without a valid argument.

for all of known history, it was accepted by theologians and laity alike that the moral of the story was that god was so disgusted by homosexuality that he destroyed s&g because of the rampant homosexuaulity. but in this modern day, when people cry foul that it would very unjust for god to do that (killing two entire cities of people, primarily because they were gay), christians now have liberalized their theology and try to point out that it was REALLY other things that made god do that, either by spinning the story or by quoting the ezekiel reference.

They are only stating what they wish were true. Just like they wish the Bible wasn't crystal clear that homosexuality is an abomination. That is not to say that there aren't OTHER sins or that that is the worst sin. ALL sin leads to death.

Like no christian heterosexuals engage in "strange forunication"?
Yeah, right.
Before someone pipes up with the old Adam and Steve thing, consider this:
Since all indications point to the origin of the human species being in Africa, Adam and Eve must have been black. Did god intend only for black people to marry and have sex? Sure looks like it!

They are not correct. Homosexuality is one of the reasons.
