People say sodium laureth sulphate is bad for you but what is wrong with it? What other ingredients are bad and what will they do? I'm particularly interested in skin irritations.

SLS is an agent that they use in shampoo's and some toothpastes. it is a form of degreaser and foaming agent. Studies done on SLS have shown some disturbing facts especially for children. Do some research on it, it's pretty interesting, It shocked me. I never thought of looking into it before I was always told to look for the alcohol content which is in most shampoo's and if you look at the label it's usually the first ingredient.( which means the most) They say that it strips the hair of all its natural oils and leaves your hair dull looking, and also leads to dryness and breakage. You could try finding something hypo-allergenic and SLS free (if they even make it?),for your sensitive skin. Thanks for the question, it opened my eyes.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) are possibly the most dangerous ingredients a consumer can find in most shampoos. So potent is SLS, studies have linked it to serious skin and scalp irritation and disease, hair loss and damage and the ability of the chemical to create nitrate compounds which have been linked to cancer and cell damage.

There is an ingredient Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) that is the suds in your shampoo that I heard drys out your hair. Whatever this chemical is, it brings lots of suds to shampoo. And more suds does not mean more clean for your hair! Hope this helps

I use a violet shampoo to keep my bleached hair from getting all brassy and icky. Generally, if there's a heavy fragrance of any kind, that's what causes skin problems in my case. Some people react to heavy pigment (like in the one I use,) so it depends on the person.
