What you are saying is an old lost stigma. Judging from your statememt I would guess that you are over 30 year old. Online dating is now the norm for many singles under 30. It has long lost it's stigma of "only loosers join dating sites". Holywood has made few hit movies based on people meeting online. Even Dr. Phil is a spokeperson for a dating site, Oprah had a show on online dating.. etc.
What I am saying is don't be afraid to join one. Just use caution when meeting someone in person. Don't give away too much personal info until you are sure of the person. Arrange to meet for the first few times in a public place. I recommend trying a free website first, there are a few good free sites. Most sites have some percentage of scammers, that is unavoidable, you can unknowlingly meet criminals in a bar and club as well.

Dating websites? Just like any other place where you can meet people. Normally, in the real world you see thousands of men every day, but you chose not to talk to/notice most of them because you don't like their looks or the way they carry themselves, etc. It's some sort of filtering that in the virtual world just doesn't exist. So yes, with the 1000 freaks there comes the occasional nice guy but it just takes a little longer to discover him. That's all. I met my boyfriend on such a website. He's from another country (or rather I am, coz he lives in the UK) and a different race! We are madly in love and will soon be moving in together. So I actually think dating websites are great! I mean, what were the chances of meeting this guy otherwise?

its not the sad thing it used to be with proffesional people who dont have the time needing to meet people this way.i have a friend who met his mrs on a site and theyve been married 10 years.
its good cos people get to know eachother first and then meet meaning that they dont just base they're opion on looks.looks can be all too important and the person inside gets missed.
i know that sounds a bit soppy, mussy and sickly but when it comes down the that thing called Lurrve it is pretty important.
F**K wot anybody else thinks.
if your gonna do it, do it.you'll meet somone and be happy not matter wot anybody else thinks.

NO not really, in fact dating websites nowadays like Filipino Friendfinder and AseanEuro has become the site of scammers, almost of all photos there are fake posted by gays. hiding inside phoney names and ID's.

I have only met total idiots on line!
So I have given it up as they can hide so much of their past and it takes so long to weed it out of them!
So 4 me it has been not a good experiment!
And I won't do it again!

It took me months to pluck up the courage to join one, but I have met a wonderful man who I have been with for 6 months now, 3 of my friends joined up after me and have all met men they are happy with - give it a go, but make sure you are safe if you are going to meet up with any of them. - get their licence plate, and mobile number to give to a mate, make sure that your mate knows where and when you are meeting them and call them when you are home. have fun on it I did !! (yes there are some odd bods out their in dateland but you could meet them in a bar too!)
