As a Christian, I accept the Bible's teaching that God exist in three different realms. Look at a human to understand this.
In Genesis, it says we are made in "his image". You will see in Genesis 2:7 that God forms the body from the elements of the earth, breaths into it the breath(spirit) of life, and the results is a living soul. Three different "parts" to a human. Each called by a different name: spirit, souls and body. Each working in a different realm of existence: heaven, mental and physical. Each serving a different purpose: spiritual, mental, and physical.
Your body is just as much "you" as your mind (soul). Your spirit is just as much "you" as your body. All three have to function together as a single being for anything to be accomplished, yet each is an individual from the other parts. (Haven't you ever had to argue with your body when the alarm goes off in the morning to get it going, or fought between doing what your spirit knows is right against what your body wants to enjoy?)
So God is also a single being that manifest in each of the three realms. He is called the Father in the heavenly realm, the Son Jesus when in the physcial realm, and the Holy Spirit when in the hearts and souls of men. Three manifestations of a single being.
And since God can be everywhere at once, he could walk the earth as Jesus while still residing in heaven as the Father and in hearts as the Holy Spirit. You will see all three present and interacting many times in the scriptures. Such as the baptism of Jesus, where are he came out of the water, the voice of God spoke from heaven, and the Spirit descended upon him like a dove.
So as Christians, we believe in God. We see him manifesting and revealing himself in each of the three realms human contact as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

In the begininng was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.... John 1:1
And the WORD became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth. John 1:14
God was in the begining and so was His Word.
there was nothing before the begininng.
Jesus is the Word, He was in the beginning with God.
