Kids are more disrespectful, rude, immoral and completely out of control these days? Should schools or parents bring back this punishment? What else could be done?

Yes I think that discipline is not what it use to be. Parents need to be more involved in their childrens lives. Parents now a days are so busy with work and every day living, that they are cheating their children out of family values. Childrens behaviors start at home. I think most children act up because they want attention. The world we live in requires both parents to work these days, and the children are sent off to daycares or latch key kids. I do agree with you 100% that kids are more rude and disrespectful. But why are they that way? Back when I was small and growing up, my mom stayed home and dad worked. When we acted up we got our butts busted. Was this abuse? I don't know, but I do know that we didn't do it again!! Do I hate my parents because they whipped me? No, I love them both dearly and have the most respect for them.

I don't know what can be done to solve the problems of kids today, because you can't even discipine them or social services will slap you on the wrist with child abuse. But this still does not keep me from dealing with my own children. After they get into trouble, I take them the phone and tell them they can dial 1 800 4 a child if they feel like they were abused in any way.I love my children with all my heart and would do any thing for them, but I will not raise disrespectful children. My children understand that to get respect, you have to give respect.

And now the most important reason of all that our children of this day and time has become so rude, disrespectful and completely out of control, is because.......lack of God!!!!!

I believe that's true, but I don't think the paddle is the reason. I think the reason the paddle is gone is because discipline of any kind has fallen out of favor. I think the paddle is just a symptom of the way society sees discipline.

Well, that kind of discipline only scared the children, not taught them the true principles of learning to behave. The problem starts at home with the parents lack of knowlege on how to teach their children to be kind and respectful towards others.

That plays a big part in why people are so ignorant in the present day also. No one feels like they should be held accountable for their actions anymore.

Dunno. I'm not sure bringing it back would work. I know that if someone had come at me with a paddle in school, I probably would have whacked them over the head with a dictionary, or something.
