If you think it's joint trouble, you can give the lowest dose possible of aspirin. It does help. If it's a cut, check the paw and put an antibiotic cream such as polysporin and a bandage. if this doesn't help I think it's time for a trip to the vet.

Please try this: it's called Leaps and Bounds Glucosamine tablets. They sell it at Petco. They make it for big dogs and it has been a god send for my dog. He has a luxated patella on his back leg, which means his knee slips out of place all the time. It got so bad that he was actually picking up his back leg sometimes and hopping around on 3 legs. Before I did the surgery though, I tried these. They were a miracle. I tried another brand once, because we don't have a Petco where I am at, and they didn't work as well, plus he wouldn't eat them because they tasted so bad. If you don't have a Petco near you, order them online. The ones for the little dogs are $7-8 a bottle. You might be looking at around $15 for a month supply, but it is worth a shot. This will prolong my dog's leg for a long time, since he is only 4 years old and can only get the surgery once.
Also. check his pads for a burn or cut. When my lab limps like that it usually means something is wrong with his pads. Usually, it's those little cockaburr things (sorry for the spelling). Best of luck to you.
Also here is a local vet for you that I looked up. If you just google your zip code and veterinary clinic this is the one that popped up. E-mail them or give them a call. Best of luck to you!

Your dog doesn't have a regular vet? I am so sorry to hear your dog is in so much pain.I'm sorry I can't help you find a vet since I don't live in your area. Do you have any friends or family members that could recommend on for you? The dog could have arthritis or (I hope not) Osteosarcoma, this is bone cancer. I had a Doberman that had that and he was put on Deramax medication which eased his pain a lot. Check with some animal organizations in your area, some will help with vet costs. I hope you're able to find help for your dog real soon. Good luck. Don't just go to the store and start buying different things. To truly help your dog you need a professional diagnosis.

Did the Dr. order the anti inflammatory for her. To much of this for too long can irritate her stomach. I would be careful if Dr. didn't order. She may have a piece of glass or something stuck between her toes. Or she could have a broken bone in that leg. Check her toenails and make sure they aren't curling back into her feet. Don't forget the one on the side of the inside of the leg if she still has one. Sometimes these get cut off at birth by vet or if left on can get pulled and it hurts. Try calling around your town and see what just a office visit cost and see if they will take payments. She really needs to be seen. Poor baby.

Hmm could be many things i would go on the internet and do a search for FRee/low costs vets in your area. Do you have any friends that would help you with costs or family? Find a vet call there office and tell them you need to get your dog in and ask them if you they can bill you X amount a month to pay off the costs most vets will work with you. These are a few options for you to ponder i hope i helped

Please don't wait. Find a vet and take her. You can apply for Com Care. Payments are low. Hopefully it's nothing serious. She needs to have an x-ray. I couldn't afford it either, but I had my 12+ chocolate lab x-rayed. I wasn't so lucky. He had osteosarcoma. He couldn't put weight on his front paw. We had 2 choices. Let him suffer in pain until his leg would break and we would have to put him down, or have his paw amputated. We chose the amputation. It was a very hard decision for us. He adapted quite well and he still was the loving member of our family even with 3 paws. He was even more beautiful to us. We would do it again in a heartbeat if we had to. So please, take her to a vet. Get her the help she needs. I hope she has arthritis, or something minor, anything but cancer. Good luck to the both of you. I wish you both well.

Rottweillers as well as any larger dog breed are prone to hip/joint problems. You may want to try giving it glucosemine supplements.
My rottie did the same thing, and I found out he had cancer in this leg. :(
It could be alot of things. You really should look into your options for aid. I know what it's like to struggle financially, but you cannot let this poor dog suffer. Try contacting the humane society, or a vet just to seek some option.
Best of luck to you and your rottie!

We have a rotty and he is only 1 and a half but I had a rotty mix that lived to be 13 and he had a hard time when he was older. They have arthritis medicine at walmart and keep her warm if she gets cold her joints will stiffen and she will really hurt. Also keeping her off the ground or floor will hurt her. You will have to help her up the steps and whatnot. They sell a vest with a handle that will help you get her up the stairs easier.

Sadly my dog has arthritis but it does not bother him that much anymore. but anyway we called the vet and asked them if there was anything over the counter that we could give him and they said to just give him 1/2 a baby aspirin. so we did and it relay seemed to help a lot. now my dog is a wheaten terrier poodle mix so hes probably a lot smaller then Ur dog but just try giving her 1/2 a baby aspirin with something she likes. like maybe some peanut butter? That's how we gave my dog the pill. so just try that and hopefully it will help!! i hope she will recover soon!

Sorry to hear about your Rotty! They are great dogs! I am an X breeder of rotts, quit breeding when the pounds where over flowing with them. My grandfather probably rolled over in hi grave after almost 25 years of our family breeding them. Unfortunately she is getting up thee in age. ONLY give her Bayer Aspirin or baby aspirin. They are non-buffered aspirin. Regular aspirin can kill her. You can check with any vet for this information.
I lost my 13 year old male rott last year. Very sad. He could no longer walk on his hind end. Rotts have problems with hips and joint issues. What kind of anti-inflammatory are you giving her? Are they from the vet? You can also give Glucosamine and condriton. (Called Pain free) for humans.(sorry about spelling) They also have foods with it in them Nutros Active care formula.
Remember 11 years old is very ole for a large dog breed. I would call you local shelter sometimes they can help people on a fixed budget but it is very important that you get her in to be looked at. Talk to your vet and see if you can set up a payment plan. If you talk with them sometimes they will work with you
Hope this helps
