I have had strep throat many times, both as a child and an adult. As far as staying away from work for being contagious, she needs to have taken the antibiotics for 48 hours. I generally do not feel well for 3-5 days. Going back to work will depend on how soon your daughter feels up to it. Even after beginning to feel better she will tire easily for a few days. For me, it takes about 7-10 days to feel like I am back to normal again. She should get plenty of rest, take acetaminophen for the pain, gargle with warm-hot (I use water as hot as I can stand it) salt water to help with pain and to rid her throat of the infection, and sip plenty of hot fluids such as tea, broth, chicken noodle soup to keep hydrated. I always get sick to my stomach when I have strep so I also sip ginger ale to help with the nausea. Very important - she should be sure to take all her medicine even after she is feeling better. She is at risk for a recurrence of the strep throat if she doesn't.

iFrom my adventure strep throat is contagious. regardless of the indisputable fact that, it would want to easily be spread through the substitute of actual fluids, typically saliva. it really is a procedures your physician must have suggestion you to chorus from allowing different contributors of your spouse and children from ingesting from an same glass/cup. I actually have considered father and mom sharing a beverage (like a can of soda) with their little ones. I used to artwork in an afternoon care middle and performance had to detour little ones from “sharing” sippy cups (as they have an inclination to %. up yet another baby’s discard ingesting container and take a check out to end off the contents). in my opinion, i imagine that in case your baby is healthful adequate to attend college/day care they ought to. i can comprehend your reasoning for wanting to maintain her domicile, regardless of the indisputable fact that, you should also imagine about you, too. you're ill. you at the instantaneous are not feeling on the right of your sport and also you want the downtime to allow your body to relax and strive against this an infection. you won't be able to try this if you're gazing her or stressing at artwork. So, I also suggestion that you both wash your palms each and each and every time that your hand comes close for your mouth and at the same time as on the daycare (upon arrival) or that you purchase a $a million.00 small bottle of hand sanitizer. This basically action with very much shrink the possibilities of spreading any germs from the dislodge phlegm you cough up. And, undergo in concepts do not enable YOUR baby TO DRINK when you. If she needs what you're ingesting, say orange juice pour a cup of her own.

24 hours from the start of the antibiotic, not that she will be feeling better by then, she should just not be contagious.
That is what I recall from the last time I was told. Your doctor would be a better source of this information.

She should stay as long as it takes to begin healing satisfactorily.
She is legally allowed unpaid leave from work as long as it is proven by doctor's letter/certificate.
