they count income, and med bills if u are disabled.. They allow so much per person in the household to auto come off (here it's $480 per person) for misc. expenses.. They take off so much for utitilies and then the total left x30% is ur rent. They will need to know how much u have in the bank..Each county is different.. Even here where I live in the county gets one figure for utilities and country gets another.. (city or other electric).. U will get more of a deduction if u have gas than electric.. It's hard to explain..

Also know that u may have to move.. Very few houses/apt are sect. 8.. Sect. 8 will have to inspect the place and see that it meets their standard.. I have been on sect. 8 13 years and they ALWAYS find something wrong to make the landlord spend more money to fix it.. (for me..it has been a nightmare) so most people don't want to deal with it..

They will inspect ur apt every 6-10 months to be sure u are keeping things the way they are supposed to be.. PERFECTLY SPOTLESS clean house..

and there is usually a 2-3 years waiting list for Sect. 8.. U might try to find a complex that is based on rent only without going thru Sect. 8 (u won't have nearly as much hassle).. GL

It is a percentage based on the total family income. Their office is located in Hamilton at 4110 Hamilton Middletown Road. Basically, a person needs to complete an application with them. I recommend contacting them to find out what proof other than income is needed to be considered for their programs. I have included a link to their website.
