I know WHO but I don't know WHAT...in other words - is burning fossil fuels top of the list of highest contributions to carbon emissions - where do cars etc fit in the table of most contributions? I heard that ships are pretty bad...?

The top producer of CO2 gas(the major greenhouse gas)is landfills. The next in line is sewage treatment plants and sewage that is not treated. A runnerup is burning fossel fuel. The thing most interesting about this is no one ever talks about the CO2 generated by waste disposal and it is the easiest to fix. There is a need to apply good engineering to waste disposal.

Actually, air transportation is the main factor contributing to increasing concentrations of CO2, surpassing even cars. As for things other than fossil fuels, things like life, volcanoes and natural forest fires contribute very little to CO2 concentrations. Natural processes without human intervention are in equilibrium.

CO2 is not the problem,u are. When I went to school my teacher taught about plants and photosynthesis. Mother nature fixated the CO2 problem several years ago when she introduced plants. Plants take in CO2 and keep the C and give us back the O2 ,that is how to clean the air. The plants need CO2 as much as u do oxygen. what u have against the plants, they have done a great job.

Cars are the main contributor, but in the normal American home, just leaving household appiliances plugged in creates just as much CO2 emissions as two cars. By unplugging appliances, we can reduce the emissions of over two cars. Consider: how many appiliances to you leave plugged in?

If you mean net contributors (emissions versus green surface GHG reduction) they are 1.- USA and 2.- EU

If you mean emissions and dont take into account green surface 1.- USA and 2.- adding CO2 and CH4, China, CH4 emissions are high in rice fields

About what:

1.- Electricity (wind, solar and biomass source dont count, of course) 2.- Transportation. flights 3%, sea 1 %, rest (earth) 96%

the two largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions are the buring of fossil fuels (not only cars but energy producers) and large scale deforestation
